How does this trade help buffalo win a Stanley cup? Fans in buffalo are sick of racing for the 8th seed only to get bounced after round 1. Then never really get to draft elite talent and watch the cellar dwellers (that have competent gms) become perennial cup favorites. No more rise to mediocrity.

If you acquire enough of and the right kind of talent through the draft free agents will see your team as contender and you won't have to pay 4.5 a year just to get a chump like Leino historically top end players have taken pay cuts to play for contenders.

Point is buffalo does not want to move Myers. Murray has said numerous times he has plans for him. Gms have been calling so reported rumors of Myers being shopped have validity in that other gms are calling him. It would take a massive overpayment for him to get moved.

I'm glad u don't want to overpay for a any player only a terrible gm would.

It seems Detroit is falling off the list too . No longer a preferred location for the free agents.

Trade Myers soon, BIG means nothing without high end talent with grit...Myers is a purse holder who is terrible on a pp, he takes forever to shoot the puck, has his head down and his vision is lacking. Trade him for a 6' tall high end skilled winger. Everyone is so obsessed with big, means nothing without heart. He will never be Chara or Pronger.

You say he's not that good then say trade him for high end talent. If he's not that good he doesn't get high end talent back.

I wouldn't doubt it. And the Gretzky argument is subjective. It's hard to say if he'd be a 150 point getting in today's NHL. I think Mario might have been. He had size and strength on Gretzky.

So you're saying in todays game Gretzky would be too small to play well? Big means zero, ask Thornton how his size helps him choke in the playoffs. Gretzky would be the leading scorer of any era he played in, people said Tom Brady, Joe Montana and Walther Payton were too small to make it in the NFL...What happened? Those big guys didn't stop them. Super Mario couldn't even stay healthy(bad back) in the old NHL so in today's game he wouldn't be as much of a force with neutral zone trap and everyone sitting back all game. Bobby Orr would get some goofy coach to tell him to not move up ice so much, Doughty used to go end to end a lot but now he sits back for much of the game. Gretzky would dominate todays game and especially on pps with his amazing ice vision, he was always two thoughts ahead of everyone else.

No not at all..So many people are obsessed with BIG and thick players they would love to have Myers, you could scam some GM into thinking he would go back to rookie year on a new team, happens all the time. Today's NHL is all about BIG blah blah blah, when I say trade him for a high end talent I mean trade him for a talented forward prospect. At least a guy who can skate shoot and score while playing hard.
