That is incorrect. He can get the full 9 games each year. That's why Laughton was on the roster for 1 game last year, and how Scheiffle was able to play like 13 games for Winnipeg before his ELC kicked in.

Oh nice give him the games then

I don't disagree but you need others to trust in the D zone...........And if we going by last year he'll be needed on so they can at times gets Couturier some O zone time.
- ob18

That's another reason I'd shift up the lines. You can trust a Giroux line with Read and Simmonds, for example, anywhere.

I doubt he'd last in the AHL for an entire season. The NHL club will need him at some point.
- PhillySportsGuy

If he comes to camp and is kicking the door down, I think he makes the team. I also agree he's the first recall in case of injury

What if he doesn't kick the door down, but is better than the other 4th line options

How about a Dman? Who's the first callup there?

Gotta be either Alt or Ghost right?

Based on what I've read, I think they want to keep Ghost in the AHL for the duration of the season

Good

So, most likely Alt or Lauridsen, presumably

i recall cout and simmonds having some chemistry in the past

would not mind seeing that combo at all. ..

read can probably play well with anyone, he and cout can stay paired on the pk so they won't have any separation anxiety

Probably. I would throw Manning in as well. They have Schultz as the 7th dman, so it would take multiple injuries.

If the Flyers suffer a long term injury, I would think they'd give Alt a long look. I see Schultz similar to Rosehill last year. They want to carry a 7th defenseman just in case, but they don't want to use one of their young guys in that role.

I don't understand this. Why would they take out this Klose guy. He's their best scorer

I wouldn't mind Shultz getting actual time at all. He plays simply and has better mobility than almost anyone on our corp.

... oh god youre right. I don't know a whole lot about Shultz, but isn't his game advertised more as a stay at home dman than as an offensive one like Gervais?

I think Klose is an older guy. I guess the team is better off with a fresh player.

Klose isn't their best player. He's one of the greatest German players ever though.

They have such a deep roster. Their entire bench would probably beat the US. It's like having an elite college football program

Yeah. I was more joking around. I don't know much about him either other than he's mobile and a defensive defenseman. This leads me to believe he handles the puck like a hand grenade.

The Flyers would, obviously, be better if Alt makes clear that he's ready to challenge for a spot. I'm hoping Schultz is just insurance

Hextall talked about it being easy to move a veteran dman if a rookie forces themselves onto the roster this year. With Kimmo leaving next year, who would be best to move if that happens?

Depends on the rookie moving in. I imagine Ghost would be taking the spot of a guy like Streit, Alt may take the spot of a guy like Amac and Morin may take the spot of a guy like Schenn or Grossmann.

Tbh, the only guys I would be hesitant to move are Coburn and Timonen. This is assuming a young guy or two is ready to step in.
