The German guy earlier was completely knocked unconscious and they let him return to the game. Do Neurologists not exist in other countries?

Softening your stance?

If Morin doesn't return, who will you watch? I know you can't stay up for Sanehim's games. Aube Kubel?

Nope I believe he'll be back, but if he has a strong enough camp & if he plays in any games it can change.
- ob18

It would be difficult to make the team even if he has a good camp. The Flyers would be forced to trade/sit a defenseman making, at least, $3.5M next season.

Convenient, but I'm not sure Morin will be back with the team to start the season.

Yes it can, still think even if he does well he's going back.

I don't think that'd be very wise. Giroux and Voracek work some serious vodoo magic together, and their talents are maximized when they're together.

On Couturier/Read, I wouldn't mind slotting Read on the first line LW considering he's probably the only one on the team that can keep up with G/Voracek. However, Read and Cooter drive play well together and shutdown everyone's top line, so it will be interesting to see how they could pacify that situation. On Cooter in a more offensive role, he'll probably get more PP time now that Hartnell's gone.

- Litepow

Giroux is an elite player and Voracek is borderline elite. Both are dynamic and can drive play and create offense.

For instance, look at the playoffs. The Rangers focused on shutting down Giroux and Voracek and dared the Flyers to beat them with their scoring depth and special teams. The result was near domination by the Rangers at even strength.

In other words, use the guys who drive possession and create chances to benefit the other forwards who have issues doing it themselves. If Lecavalier stays, I'd play him either Giroux(as a RW) or as a C with Voracek. Then you have guys that help him and who can set him up for open looks at the net.

I'd also like to see Simmonds with a guy like Giroux, because quite honestly, he and Schenn were pretty ordinary at 5 on 5 last year, and near dreadful at ES with Lecavalier.

I get the dynamic between the two players in the cases of Giroux and Voracek AND Couturier and Read. But this team needs to be a better 5 on 5 team, and simply keeping the same pairs of forwards together doesn't help solve it.

Some may not agree but who are the pure scoring wingers on this team, I see it as a team more full of pass happy players.

I think the Coots & Read line looked pretty good last year. But I think if we have Vinnie going into the season, priority one should be utilizing him, not hiding him. At the very least, showing that he does have the ability to play to get some interest in trading him. I think Either Read or Voracek would be excellent to move the puck and feed Lecavalier.
- flyler

Couturier and Read did look good, but they were used so heavily defensively that they didn't produce as much offense as they probably could have. Part of the reason is because Berube had zero faith in Simmonds-Schenn-Lecavalier to take a D-Zone draw and get the puck out of their own end.

But the sheer weight of responsibility put on the Couturier-Read pair was ridiculous.

There's not really ANY pure scoring wingers. That's why if Lecavalier stays, I put him with Giroux to be the shooter on the RW, with maybe Read or Raffl, and then drop Voracek to a line with Schenn & Couturier or Simmonds.

The key to me is getting the puck and going on the attack as often as possible. That's going to require shuffling the lines as well as much more skating and better two way play from the forwards.

That to me is why Laughton should be on the team, it's the part of the game he right now is best at and probably will begin his NHL career doing while working his way up the depth chart.

Morin needs to go back to the Q, but there's no reason why he shouldn't be up for a nine game tryout.
- KGBflyers10

If we use his 9 game tryout then we can't use it in the future, right? If that's the case then he shouldn't get the full amount of games this year.

The first game is on September 10th. The Flyers first preseason game is on September 22nd. Morin will definitely get a look in preseason. He probably won't return to Rimouski until early October at the earliest

If he was going to get 10-12 minutes a night and not simply be restricted to a solely defensive role, I'd be fine with him making the team. But I'm also fine with him playing in the AHL for a season.

Read can probably play with anyone. I'm not sure if he had elite chemistry with Couts or is just someone who plays well with anyone.

If you ask me yes he is, but if you go by what team management is saying he's headed for the AHL or at least that seems likely.

That is incorrect. He can get the full 9 games each year. That's why Laughton was on the roster for 1 game last year, and how Scheiffle was able to play like 13 games for Winnipeg before his ELC kicked in.

I don't disagree but you need others to trust in the D zone...........And if we going by last year he'll be needed on so they can at times gets Couturier some O zone time.

I doubt he'd last in the AHL for an entire season. The NHL club will need him at some point.
