I just really doubt anyone had him anywhere near as high as the Flyers. This is a kid who has good attributes-good skater, solid defensively, great pound for pound fighter-but who also didn't produce much and had been passed over in the previous year's draft.

Much rather roll the dice on skill & production in the third round of a pretty deep draft class

- Jsaquella

Same.... it would have been akin to taking Jesper Pitbull in the 3rd this year instead of the 7th... gotta keep going after high-upside while those kids are still on the board... save the overage grinders for later.

I watch from time to time. At least they try to avoid Baylessism
- Jsaquella

I like when the highlights are accompanied by the broadcaster's call. I hate hearing the anchors try to create catchphrases.

I was hoping Bayless would eventually leave after people realized his whole thing was a charade like Glenn Beck. I guess I underestimated people's stupidity.

If you need proof of the that statement, may I present:

Yep, exactly. Ghoulbourne might end up being a solid depth guy. But I'd rather roll the dice on getting a potential top 6 guy than a guy whose ceiling sure seems to be fourth liner

One of my favorite things of the baseball & hockey packages is hearing the various announcers.

As BiggE points out, stupid always has a place in the US

They should have taken Goulbourne in the 5th, but I think he may end up being an NHL player.

But he was humongous big...him just being on the ice would prevent fights and cheapshots.

Referencing Ek's front story, trading Letang is a dump in my opinion, if that is something Pitt is really considering, and I think moving him is even more difficult than moving VL, but what kind of deal would you guys consider for him?

The salary & term scare me a bit, especially after the stroke. I'd guess my interest would be close to nil

http://bluejacketsxtra.dispatch.com/content/stories/2014/07/13/bjorkstrand-elevates-stature-following-breakout-season.html

Flyers passed over Bjorkstrand, a teammate of current Flyer prospect Taylor Leier, to grab Zac Rinaldo 2.0 in the 3rd round of the 2013 NHL draft. 50 goals in 69 games in the WHL and leads the league in playoff scoring.

- Jsaquella

Who cares. They made the pick. Dwelling on "what could have been" is foolish

Because they could have got a skilled forward prospect like Bjorkstrand in the 3rd round, something the Flyers really need in the system.

Thankfully Hextall didn't reach for any goons in his first draft.

Yup. Huge gamble tied to a long term deal with a significant cap hit. He's damn near unmovable in my opinion.
