that is a joke.

No it's the truth. Dion is playing the toughest role he's ever had in his career.

I've seen this with Bryan McCabe. It's hyperbole because of where he plays. No one would crap on Dion if he were in Tampa.

This whole discussion about who has got the best system is dumb. I wouldn't trade Vasilevskiy for all the goalies you got, I wouldn't trade Hedman for any of your defenseman, maybe Phaneuf+ Rielly and a pick!

And no, Stamkos wouldn't get better support in Toronto because they would have to move players out to afford him!

He's only 29. Playing the best defense of his career.
- RogerRoeper

He's undervaluing Dion, but you're over valuing.... Slightly. I like Dion and believe him to be a top pairing guy. I don't believe Stralman is better the Pheanuf overall, but I do believe defensively/possession stats he is. Doin plays a better all around game.

Unless his name is literal and he provides beer, this is a crazy statement.

He played on a team with flawed systems last year, but still has better GA/60 than guys like Keith, Karlsson, Weber, Subban. He's far from perfect, but Brewer would get absolutely murdered if put in the same situations as Dion.

i know. brewer is awful, but good as a 5-6, thats why i said it

So would Stralman. People don't seem to get what a difficult job Dion has.

The Yankees tickets are so expensive, New York is terrible!

The seats are expensive because they have the most loyal fanbase in pro sports.

Players in markets like Tampa face no pressure, no criticism. Rick Nash somehow was a "Franchise Player" for 10 years in Columbus and they never won a single playoff game with him.
- RogerRoeper

Until now: four goals in 37 playoff games and there's a lot of talk of shipping him and that albatross contract out.

Funny how guys like Dion get crucified and all they do is put up respectable numbers against the odds, year in and year out.

I see a big year for Dion if he's paired with a healthy Robidas.

If you gave Stralman the minutes in situations Dion had last year ... on that HORRIBLY coached team, I think you probably not see a comparison.

The post by Lums above pretty much makes the point.

We saw it with Franson. He looked great as a 5/6 guy, gets moved up to taking even a fraction of Dion's workload, and gets owned.

Forget the stupid SI poll filled out by 10 of the dumbest (frank)s in the league, Dion is now one of the more underrated guys.

Yeah because Nash got traded to a bigger market and got exposed. The rim jobs he got for years from the media was just odd.

If we have to put a 37 year old on our top pairing we are in trouble.

By far. When people say things like he's a 2nd-3rd pairing guy, they're saying he's nit top 80 in the league. It's a (frank)ing joke.

The league does. Our $ help pay for many other teams through revenue sharing.

When I see Dion stop consistently coughing up pucks in front of his own net and blowing missed assignments I will change my opinion

I hate Phaneuf, but I don't agree with you here. Phaneuf is a legit top-pairing guy and over the course of his contract I think it will become good value.
