New Jersey is an underrated team. They just need some scoring and they should be a playoff team.

Can you actually see Kane being happy in NJ? He's a malcontent in Winnipeg, and I can't see him being any happier here. I don't want that kind of attitude here, regardless of his skill. Plus, it'll cost a lot to get him here, so if it doesn't work out, that's trading what little youth we have. If we wait until next offseason and a couple of the young d we have breakout, we can trade one of them for a forward straight up, and we'll have better options, because we'll be in a better negotiating position. A lot of teams are looking for top 4 defenseman and we have 5 young defenseman who have a high likelihood of being average NHL defenseman at worst.
- CaptCrankypants

I think a lot of the apparent malcontent is over sensationalized, ask the same dude the same questions 50 different times, 50 different ways it gets annoying. The Canadian press has the tendency to be a bunch of clowns. Not to mention he is an elite player that is 22 years old, who makes millions dollars a year, confidence can easily be viewed as arrogance. I bet coming to NJ would help him grow, people like Jagr around him would do him good. I would be happy to get him (and his talent).

Well, he scored 26 goals last season in 63 games, so 20-25 goals as the top bar seems low.

I agree on the Schneider thing, though. What are the supposed to do, let him walk and be elite elsewhere?

- Todd.Cordell

I agree, starting at 20 is certainly low. Personally, I expect him to be around 25-29. I'll be pleasantly surprised if he hits 30. But, Jagr is one of the best in the league at playing a 2 man game in tight space. Cammalleri could very well benefit from that. Zajac certainly did

only a B until the trades are made, Carter, Gelinas and Jo are re-signed.
- MartysBetter88

Brendan Morrow signed for 1.55/1 yesterday. I would venture to guess that puts Carter out of the Devils price range and creates an excellent opportunity for Sislo, Whitney or Zajac.

I had Carter going around 1.25 for 3 years on the UFA market. I think he's worth it. Can competently play 3rd line if need be.

but i also think it's no coincidence it's taking this long. It's all about Lou's list of priorities. I bet he's trying to make a trade now, and then will worry about Carter. In the meantime, Carter probably does want to come back, so maybe he's waiting on Lou, and then will weigh his options?

I think Carter, like many other players, was just waiting for someone to set the market. In fairness to him, if Morrow got 1.55 there's no reason he can't get the same. That's a big jump from 1.25. You have to realize 300k is a lot of money even though it might not seem like it when you're just writing in decimals.

I think carter just really wants to be here and is holding out on other offers till he can't wait for Lou any longer but that's just me

You could be right.

At the end of the day I think it would be hard for him to walk away from that extra cash, depending how much the difference is. The money doesn't last as long for 4th line guys as it does for most other players.

I gave him a B also, like most people have but because of the draft. I would like him to resign Gelly, of course, but also Carter and trade a forward or two. However, even with that I would still give him a B there were just some better players in the 3rd, 5th, and 6th rounds he could of picked, but that Dubek might be good. I don't mind Q and Jacobs as I read more about them, but the other guys...

All of this year's draft picks and I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that all of Albany's RFAs would be there too. Not 100% on that but pretty sure. Beyond that I dunno.

im not sure that all this years picks are going to be there, i believe our 2nd rounder is going to college and would have to pay his way so im not sure if he is going to do that or if thats what the team wants, it will be good to see

interesting to see what people say about severson

Someone had to take larssons spot that would be to funny but I am a big fan of severson and the whl and defense men I think he could be a hell of a player I like all our higher defense prospects though Jacobs has grown on me after watching his interviews we where really lacking in any physical d with any promise urbom and helgelson are long shots to me the might land on somewhere else like Fraser as a six seven guy

It's not the official list, just a note of some players who'll be there. I'm guessing Gulitti will post something about it today or tomorrow. I can't imagine Severson wouldn't be there.

Urbom is done. Helgeson I've thought of as more of a depth guy. Santini is a physical presence though. If he lives up to the hype he could end up being one heck of a player.

Exactly its been a very long time since we had a guy who didn't just stand in front of our goalie and turn his head the other way while the other team snows or pushes or hacks our goalies we have been a push over on the back end since Stevens left if either of those guys could end up half like Stevens I'll be a happy man
