Advanced stats give you a good base when you're not able to watch a player play. But you can't have poor stats and be playing good, doesn't make sense. - peddy-93
Look at Dan Girardi.
People here wanted him over Phaneuf this last season... generally gets pretty awesome reviews about his play.
His corsirel was worse than Schenn's this season |

You know what is the most embarrassing thing about the amount of Leaf fans that still whine about Grabbo?
That not one single Habs fan, despite that team not having an abundance of centremen either, ever expresses even the smallest hint of regret at trading him away.

it's not like baseball. individual ballplayers can be analyzed on their numbers only. but hockey players have a symbiotic relationship. their stats are dependent on 11 other hockey players on the ice. - DoubleDown
Different teams can alter their stats of course, playing for the Leafs you're Corsi will be a lot lower than playing for the Kings. COL isnt a good possession team either, so a 48% corsi for ROR isn't that bad. Like I said, people cant solely judge on a players performance on one stat alone without looking at other considerations. |

But we all would take Girardi over Schenn. It's not a perfect stat and you can't only use corsi without other stats, like Girardis QoC compared to Schenns.

I'm with you.
But lots of people won't do that.
Biggest issue with the corsicans is the way they glob onto that one stat, and don't look for context. |

you ever play
then you would know playing 11 mins a game with 0 pp time making 5.5 is a disaster in the making.

Better to use stats for a larger sample rather than just a game. Every player turns the puck over that leads to goals. - peddy-93
exactly...rolling 10 game is used .. but not really worth trying to explain..some peoples minds are made up. |

It's a shame he wasn't given the opportunity to play an offensive role at the beginning of the season. |

wasting a buyout is embarassing just because our horrible coach doesnt like a player. |
