Whereas I don't see the Nucks going anywhere I also have a hard time believing they would have qualified for a top 5 pick. I'd love to see a mid-season fire sale if they're sitting out of a playoff spot, but I think in reality we'll be picking in the middle of the draft.
- golfingsince

I am guessing last year may have been our best pick for awhile unless management has a change of heart at tdl if we are a bubble team, but I don't see it happening..

I must have visited a different Winnipeg than you.
- VANTEL

The one I visited has a great live music scene and has some great eastern european (and German) restaurants, and a burgeoning Asian and S. American population.

The people are friendly and unassuming. I was treated quite well also, so you know that has something to do with it.

Draisaitl Nurse Pouliot Purcell Fastch Nikitin Aullie is an improvement over last year

Don't underestimate the ability of the Oilers and Leafs to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Besides, the Oilers stanley cup IS the draft lottery, they'll be gunning for another title this season...

I think Oilers could pass us this year. Top,6 looks good , upgraded the goalie , picked up a Dman as the team gets older and more mature
- VANTEL

The Oilers are still sh!t. Elite talent, but not a good mix in the top 6. Still a poorly constructed team with a bad bottom 6, awful D and questionable goaltending.

They're also doing exactly what Benning wants to avoid, developing kids in a losing atmosphere. Tough to shake.

Too much youth and no Veteran leadership. So yeah pretty much all of the above.

I really wanted Nylander. I think that kid has elite talent.

I am actually really excited about Tryamkin though. Even if it will be a few years before we see him in NA

I'm really hoping for a propect fight between Tryamkin and Hunter Smith of Calgary. Both 6'7 and 220+ I believe"

Maybe Tryamkin grows another 4-5 cm... and his wingspan with stick can cover half the width of the ice... males continue to grow roughly until age 21 or so... then again maybe the Canucks pull a Gattaca move and artificially give the guy another 5-10 cm growth on the legs...

Think Tryamkin is 230, we won't be seeing him for a couple years though as he is playing out the remainder of his KHL contract

I heard he's got surprising speed, not what one might expect from someone his size.

Should come along nicely playing against men in the K on the big ice improving his foot speed. He has to be able to skate on the big ice, so he should be even better on the smaller NHL sheets.

So Botch was basically full of sh*t.....guarantee you guys that he tried doing the simple math and played the odds to make it seem like he had a source on this one.....

@News1130Sports

Just talked with #Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom who says, "I did not ask for a trade after the Ryan Miller signing".

Markstrom says "I could have stopped training, complained and asked for trade after Miller signing but I see this as a challenge".

Markstrom - "I can't let Miller signing effect me, NHL is tough league, you have to outplay goalies to earn your job."

Markstrom - "I'm super excited to come to camp, been working real hard this summer."

Ya apparently he moves surprisingly well. Playing against speedy Russians should help, and I prefer him in the KHL to the AHL. Guy could be NHL ready by the time he gets here

I was saying this last week and everyone was reacting like I told them Santa Clause doesn't exist for the first time! (Hopefully, Carol gets a new blog before Zogg reads this; I'd hate to be the first one to break it to him)

I silently agreed with you. Next time I will speak up.
The local media are ass hats and like you said, just fling poo at the wall to see if any will stick and then they get Steaming Lombardi to analyze it.

He said the same thing about Kesler. Kesler denied and people on here made similar accusations on Botchford. So why is Kesler gone then?

Wait and see.
