Well, if a night club bouncer thinks poorly of someone, he must be a terrible person.

Honestly, if the kid can do this while wearing a Canuck jersey, I'll take him.

Van needs to keep its prospects.

McCann virtanen horvat shink tanev corrado is better than Kane less 2 of those guys and a 1st round pick I'm sure has to go the other way

- The_Kuze

Agreed.

If McCann has the growth spurt that is expected ( was reading his brother and dad are 6`3 - 6`4). He could surprise people and end up being that big mean future top line C we are hoping for.

He's not even 6'1 yet, if he can get there or to 6'2 that'd be great. No guarantee though.

You should hear my one for Cumberland, it ended up in a fist fight with Scott Brown.

Hockenheim ticket discount offer backfires

A marketing gimmick has backfired ahead of next weekend's German grand prix.

Germany's Auto Motor und Sport said a EUR 11 ticket discount was being offered for every goal scored by the national team in its world cup semi-final against Brazil.

'Die Mannschaft' then stunned the world by humiliating Brazil with a staggering final score of 7:1. It means a EUR 77 discount per ticket in the six highest categories for the German grand prix.

"The inventor of the campaign probably had not imagined such a result," said Auto Motor und Sport correspondent Michael Schmidt.

The thing is, a young star rarely gets made available and in those rare occasions that they do it's generally because of some issue or perceived issue. You don't get to pick and choose but you'd also be wasteful of a great opportunity to simply pass on something that is proven in favor of something(s) that are far from proven IMO.
- AlexF

That is what I was getting at. For the careful type, a trade for a star is simply unrealistic. And as far as proven goes, it sort of depends how highly your scouting staff rank him. How many question marks does the player have vs. the pieces you'd have to move. If Tyler Seguin didn't play lights out this year and Louie Erikkson have such a lousy year, then we are suddenly not so sure about the trade from Dallas' perspective. The types of players you would get (Evander Kane, Tyler Seguin) are not risk free. For me, I would not take the risk, but I am generally a cautious person

Usually you'd be smart enough to put a limiter clause into the promotion. Its sports and crazy things happen regularly or we wouldn't all watch.

They won't improve service with cheaper labour that they manage on their own. Aramark was an expert in this kind of work and the Canucks play hockey. It's not common that any organization can ace two competencies, though if the Canucks are as competent on the ice as they were last year, maybe they can at least get the food service nailed down.
- gomer300

It very well may. I work for UBC and I can assure you that high wages do not always translate into better service

How many people have huge growth spurts (height wise) after 17/18 though? I stopped growing at about 16, so I don't think we should put all our eggs in that basket

I'm all for taking risks here and there that are calculated and a part of an overarching strategic plan.

Trading Lack would make sense if they believe Markstrom/Errickson/Demko will develop or that they can get a decent UFA goalie. I like Kane but he doesn't make a ton of sense long-term. A team like the Islanders would make sense. They have a superstar center and need a winger. Van needs a legit #1 future center or #1 Dman. If your not getting either than giving up multiple assets for one doesn't make sense.

Imagine having put down even $20 on what were 999/1 odds (I believe those are the highest odds available with respect to most books) German/Brasil game's 6 goal differential. It would equate to $20,000 in winnings. @##$@# me, that was the week my psychic was away at clairvoyant camp

Stolen from HFBoards:

Ron Francis was drafted at 6'1" and played most of his career at 6'3".

Nick Bjugstad was drafted at 6'4", they now have him at 6'6".

Travis Hamonic was 5'11" in his draft year and is now 6'2".

Brendan Dillon went undrafted for being 5'9? He's now a 6'3 beast. Same with Danny DeKeyser

Wiercioch was drafted as 6'2 grew to 6'5.

Erik Gudbranson, drafted at 6'3" 195lbs. Now, 6'5" 210lbs

Eller was drafted at something like 5'10. Now he is 6'1

Mats Sundin was drafted at 6'3 1/2 and played his career at 6'5".

Just to name a few, so it does happen.

The hospitality move is pretty outrageous.

A lot of layoffs to bring in cheaper labour while likely raising prices for higher options. When does charging more for cheaper service ever work out?

- gomer300

I think it's great. those people who worked for Aramark or whoever, had every opportunity from my understanding of working for the new in-house company or to find new employment.

its the nature of the somewhat free market in socialist Canada/ British Columbia to allow companies the ability to do this.

what would you rather have? 5 year central plans coming from the communist politburo every year? if so then maybe you should move to a country with central planning...

Because he doesn't want to play in Winnipeg? Seems perfectly reasonable to me.
- AlexF

Winnipeg is a great place. it gets a bad rap from all the loser media in Toronto who like to point out places they think are worse than their metro... to make themselves feel better.

which explains why they hate on BC and metro vancouver and its teams all the time, since independent observers believe B.C. with metro Vancouver, the rockies, pristing lakes/ rivers, etc.. is the best place to live in this country...

Interesting summary, and just underscores how long it sometimes takes players to fully fill-out.

Although I'm sure there is also a bit of a 'PR' element to this - you will note teams tend to inflate both height and weight (unless you are talking Buff
) of their players
