The game was just fine before they brought in the rule. A lot of rule changes were brought in to "create" more offense because offense slowed down after the 80's. There is nothing wrong with a 1-0 game or even a tie. The game wasn't broke in the 60's and 70's but somewhere in the 90's and later the deep thinkers started tinkering and common sense went out the window.

They need to encourage more shortterm 1-3 year deals so that the UFA market is not devoid of talent. When there's no good players in UFA then all the poopties make top-tier player money
