And why would the Leafs want to trade Kadri anyway??? - Pecafan Fan
It is the trade scenarios here, people want to include him in every trade. Let him develop and grow with the team. |

Yeah, Ennis, Gerbe and Skinner won't make the NHL next year as well. - LeafMan
It's not his height, obviously a shorter player (St Louis) can make the NHL although he has legs the size of tree trunks.
Nylander just doesn't have the body mass or muscle required to play a regular NHL schedule.. but hey if you want another RNH stick boy that gets injured every year he's your man |

I made my point, you don't trade a gifted centre for a defensive centre, never. - LeafMan
completely agree.
but personally, i'm not sold that Couturier is a defensive centre as opposed to a 2-way centre. |

He may be then it changes but as of right now, I would not do it, I know people will counter with O'Reilly but he is what you speak of. |

It is strange. If you just look at Kadri's career thus far, isn't that what you want for a top ten draft pick? Or people say the Leafs should keep draft picks, and develop them over several years with patience, like Detroit has often done. Isn't that exactly what's happening with Kadri? - Zezel
i think Kadri has developed fine for a 7th overall. if a 7th overall becomes a solid #2 centre, you take that all the time. because that 7th pick could have been Mike Komisarek or Jack Skille. |

Nylander making the team this season would be cool, only cause we all have pretty modest (some of us even lower) expectations for this year so it'd be awesome to have something to oooh and aaaah about.
But because he came from the SEL, and gets auto eligibility for the A, it just makes so much more sense to give him Top 6 minutes there and a year to fill out more.
Nonis has done a great job setting us up for next year cap-wise, and Ny's EL can slide for the next 2 years anyways.
IMO, he's a 10% chance to make it this year, 75% next year and 99.99% the following. |

Kadri is exactly what he was projected to be.... a 50-60 pt player.
He needs to learn to play defense, but he's still young. The only way you trade him is if he is packaged for a better center. Other than that, you keep him. No sense creating a hole to fill a hole |

bad attitude, not a RC player, sucks defensively, not at #1 center.

Yeah, pretty much. I think some fans think if a high draft pick isn't Giroux out of the box that it's a failure, but Giroux is the exception. Kadri so far gives indications of being a legit 2nd line NHLer, which for a 7 pick is a successful outcome. |

That's not evolving the game. That's knee jerk changing the rules every couple of years to fix a perceived problem that's not even really a problem. - JohnFergusonJr
That's something I hate about the NHL. Stupid knee jerk changes like the trapezoid brought in just because goalies started using curved sticks and learned to shoot the puck better. |
