I think Garth's business model 6 years later should include this
1. Stop spending all your time trying to sign the top UFAs.
2. Look at all the prospects and decide who will be relevant to the future and the ones who aren't, package them up.

Most quality defenseman nowadays have NTC/NMC's so if you're looking for someone that is going to help improve this team that's likely not the route that's going to work. In theory it's a good idea, but guys aren't waiving to come play for the Isles.

My point is that if Rick here wants that Earth moving 6th(PROVEN IN THE NHL)defenseman you're going to have to trade someone remotely close to that to acquire someone like, using my example, a Leddy or Oduya type.

Every (frank)ing team in the league uses camp to fill out a roster. All of them. This is one frustrating argument and I'm just trying to have fun with it.

I can't do this anymore. When we say he was serviceable we were talking last year. Nobody is saying he should be a key piece when they are on the verge of being contenders. We can only talk about the players that are here NOW!! We didn't bring Hickey in the isles did. Yes they sucked last year but just because we say Hickey was decent last year doesn't mean we think he is the answer either. Is that really that hard to comprehend? I don't get it.

whats funny about this offseason is everyone agreed that there were 4, maybe 5 things that had to be taken care of:

1) fire cappy
2) get a real goalie
3) get a legit backup goalie
4) top 4 dman
5) get a top 6 forward.

-everyone agrees bringing back cappy was just terrible, absolutely terrible.
-garth got a top tier goalie
-garth got one of the best backups in the league
-garth got TWO, not one, TWO top 6 forwards

-garth is presumably working on the top 4 dman.

we are only 10 days into free agency and the way some people talk around here youd think they are dropping the puck in 20 minutes
