Admirable, but it doesn't make it any less childish/contradictory.

I've seen letsgoisles be antogonistic many times in the past for the sake of being antagonistic. So yes he's a child to me.

Agreed. But I think people also recognize the Isles reeeeally need a Doughty, Keith or Seabrook...or (in full recognition of how rare those players are) at least a poor man's version of one of them. I think there's plenty of depth to make a respectable 3-7. I'd say it actually looks pretty good in those spots. They need a 1-2 punch that can be relied on to log big minutes against the league's elite, and I don't think they have that with the current bunch. Maybe Hamonic can be one of those guys, with the right partner.

The "Metro" division (still hate that name)...I'm not sure how unstoppable the teams are as a whole, but most of them have high-powered superstars that feast on the Isles. Need a pair we know will make life hell for Crosby, Ovechkin, Eric Staal, Nash, Giroux, etc.

Best way to find a top pairing dman is to develop your own

potvin doesn't do that. He's one of the first ones to drop off the site when it starts to get stupid.

I agree with you, but having a guy who's serviceable is not a serious team. I don't want serviceable guys. I want guys who can come in and make a difference. No more projects....
- kindlyrick

All the dman we keep talking about were developed by their own teams ... La, chi, Bos, st Louis even the rangers have developed two or three of their top six.

I don't take myself as seriously as people like you do.

I've butt heads with the other regulars here, but, real crazy, I still get along with almost all of them because I don't feel the need to be "right." People can read the thread and make up their own determination, I just don't care.

If I want a pointless, stupid fight I got my wife and daughter at home just chomping at the bit to do it.

we've gone back and forth a lot but reading your comments today, I agree with you on most, and not going to quibble about anything minor.

Overall, I'm happy with what's been done for the team so far. Goaltending should be light years better, which helps our defense tremendously. Our forwards are much deeper and the kids are another year older. The defense should have 1-2 guys pushing for spots, which is still a concern but there is time for Snow to address it, even during camp once we get an idea of where the forwards are going to shake out.

I'm going for a calm and relaxed summer. No more screws in the tires on my ninja and everything will be fine..

I butt heads with letsgoisles, you, and a number of others here - I try to attack the ideas and opinions, sometimes I get frustrated and it carries over and becomes more personal than it should. I'm able to admit occasionally I'm guilty of that, and I think a number of us are.

Let's all remember it's summer, it's Friday and none of us know each other as actual people. We're going to disagree - it's going to happen, many times each new blog comes up.

I'm going to try and not get personal with anyone for the rest of the summer.

everyone take a breath. The team is better, we all would like to see at least one top four defenseman, but it's gotta be the right guy and it's gotta be the right price. If not, I'll wait to see how the season starts. Halak and Johnson may make us look better on the back end than we expect.

i didnt say that he is going to get one...i said we are 10 days into free agency and so far hes improved the TEAM (not coaching staff), this is a business where things take time and quite frankly, garth HAS time to take. i wont be upset that no moves are made until opening night.
- LetsGoIsles

I actually do agree with you I would be ok if they did nothing else at this point. If they are just mediocre through the first few months then maybe I would trade for a defenseman

I read this blog multiple times every day, but don't post often because I think you're all a bunch
of d!cks!

If Pittsburgh won a cup with Mark Eaton, we can be a damn good team even with Hickey being a 5/6 dman if we fill in a few remaining holes.

I don't take any of this seriously. He can tell me to go (frank) my mother, I ain't gonna lose sleep over it. I don't get mad at people I don't know. If he wants to be mad about it...then I really don't know what to say.

Passing the time to me, I'd rather laugh, which what I've been doing the entire time.
