Bernier career 2.51GAA/.918Sv%
Price 2.52/.917
Bernier was fantastic last year, and we were terrible when he was injured (cost us the season). I have no worries about the starting goaltending in Toronto.
And no, I'm not saying Bernier is at price's level. But he has the potential to be, he is the most talented keeper we have had since Belfour - GardinerExpress
Please! One slump does not kill a team. Leafs 8 game losing streak down the stretched happened with Bernier in net and did not fair better with Reimer because the Defence sucks. Franson was a nightmare, Phaneuf struggled down the stretch. There are hundreds of reasons why the Leafs missed the playoffs. Bernier's injury did not cost the Leafs anything. It didn't help but they had every chance to make the post season and blew it every time! |

Your wrong! All the failures must be pinned on a single player. It's the only rational explanation. |

I think Evander Kane is the classic example of an athlete who was once disgruntled but finds a new setting/team and flourishes.
I can't believe there are not more teams trying to make a deal for him. More so I can't believe the Jets would even consider trading him. Maybe they should focus trying to build around him? Just my 2 cents. - Pelle31Forever
Exactly. If they move him it will because someone wants to overpay for him. Otherwise he stays and likes it! |

your former gm wanted two of them + a first for Luongo, but you ended up with a 4th liner and 3rd string goalie.
Kadri would have led the nucks in scoring, so safe to say he would be highly sought after if he was available (which he is not).
Do you think the nucks are "going to win anything with that crew?"
Luongo+Kesler+Santorelli+Garrison out ...Miller+Vrbata+Bonino+Sbisa in...looks pretty similar to the team that was better only than the powerhouse alberta teams last year. - GardinerExpress
Lord knows the Canucks have their issues but at least they now have a GM who is not afraid to make moves so we will see in the future. The Leaf prospect cupboard seems pretty bare and the castoffs that Nonis recently acquired shouldn't inspire confidence in Leaf nation. |

I'm completely indifferent towards the Canucks, but coming from experience...be wary of a GM who's not afraid to make moves. You don't want a gunslinger.
Ahem.
A move here and there is necessary and it's nice to see the effort, but just doing stuff all willy, nilly gets you in a position like we were in. |

Yeah, if you don't make moves as a GM unless pinned against a wall, you end up with terrible terrible results.
Thanks, Holland. |

I would be completely comfortable. - BoTtLePoLiCe
As would I...He took T. To the playoffs for the first time in 10 yrs..Tim the president brought in Bernier and 90% of the world said why?? You have a great goalie and he is..He is very emotional and let it be known that he wanted the number 1 job..When he was told he was a back up it messed him up and destroyed his confidence. .put him on a team like Edmonton or Winnipeg and give him the number 1 job HE WILL be a top 10 -15 goalie in the league. .GUARANTEED..ok maybe not edmonton But any other team he would thrive and be a very good starting goalie |

Leaf cupboard seems low?? The marlies are a powerhouse We made it to the finals two yrs ago the conference finals last year and three yrs ago.... we have Holland, Levio ,Granberg, Finn ,Percy, Abbott ,Connor brown just to name a few...not the smartest individual are ya - Daddichronic
Just because a team wins in the AHL does not mean they have strong prospects...it could justt mean you have a lot of older guys who know how to play in the A or you have a bunch of guys who will excel in the style played in the AHL versus the NHL.
The marlies do very well but the leafs propsects are mostly projected as bottom six players and are ranked in the bottom third of the league overall (hockeyprospectus) |

90% of the marlies are under 25.....and maybe you should watch a few marlies games and see some of our prospects before saying anything |

I live just outside of Toronto and see a lot of the games - and I just checked the roster and roughly 30% of the Marlies are 25 or over going off of the 2013-2014 team. I'm just saying AHL success does not mean you have a strong prospect pool - a lot of strong prospects out there arent even playing in the AHL.
And as I said the Maple Leafs prospect pool is generally rated in the bottom third of the league - at least by hockey prospectus and hockeys future - not the most reliable of sites but two of the more popular. |

(Good ones)..I'm not too worried

Nobody wants them. Not going to win anything with that crew. They can't even find their own end and three of them are Dmen. - Beachcomber
True, they'll never win anything, like the Canucks core has. |

My goodness. Have you ever looked in the mirror?
The Canucks prospect cupboard is totally bare, and your team is worse than castoffs, because you couldn't get rid of them if you wanted to. No one would take them. |
