What's sad is neither are on the Rangers any longer They brought character to the team. Meh...what can you do.....
- mames11

It is pretty crazy. If you would have told me 3 years ago that NEITHER would be on the Rangers at this point, I would have said what are you smoking and can you pass some my way.

They definetely did, but you also have to consider how far character alone can take you. Take Dubinsky for example, he had a good year this year, but in the two years prior, he scored 12 goals in 106 games. I guess it shows you what a good year can due, which is why I prefer looking at the bigger picture when evaluating players, and not getting too caught up in hot streaks and cold streaks.

I am not saying that Dubinskys' deal is necessarily a bad one, but that's alot of money, and to earn it, he at least needs to continue to put up this year's production (i.e., around 50 points).

At which point, Dubinsky will announce how proud he is to have the "K" on his jersey.

Jk. Just having some old time fun.

No one, I think. I don't think they've had a Captain since Nash.

I don't mind Moore on the 2nd unit, but Rangers need McDonagh on the first unit with Boyle. Finally have that rightly, lefty combo at the point they have been looking for.

Yea I know, my point was McDonagh is to good to not be on the top powerplay unit lol. Him and Boyle is a dream power play pairing for me.

If I had written three years ago that both Callahan and Dubinsky would sign long-time deals and neither would be in NY, who would have believed me?

Barry Melrose the "skid row version" of Don Cherry says we're not very good and the Isles and Devils have gotten better while we're worse, if Mike Cammalier and Havlat make up ground on a team that missed the playoffs compared to a finalist then this league sucks, next season can't come soon enough, the one aspect of the offseason I am enjoying is the hypocrisy of Isles and Devils fans on spending money

Bosh is going to sign in Houston in about 3 seconds. It seemed like Melo to the Knicks was a done deal, but not his hesitation has to be giving them heartburn.

Isn't that pretty much a true statement? The Rangers, at least on paper, have gotten worse, and the Devils and Islanders have gotten better. That doesn't mean that either team will be better than the Rangers, however.

Honestly, I have to agree with Melrose and the others, the Rangers are a worse team right now then they were at the end last season. Think it's pretty clear but the question of whether the other teams have done enough to make up the gap that existed, is yet to be determined. I like Cammalleri but let's see if he is a diff maker there while Grabovski makes the Isles' center depth enviable, though Kulelin does not much for me. The keys there will be the Halak/Johnson combo and young blue line. If they are good, so will the Isles.

This is what I wrote after the Nash trade, think the latter part may come true:
"Dubi. You all know jimbo and I loved him. Next to Cally, he probably was my favorite player since he was a heart and soul type athlete that left his entire being on the ice. However, his decline in production the past year-and-a-half coupled with his salary and the viceral reaction he got from the fan base, meant that he had to go for his own mental wellbeing and sanity. I look for Dubi to be a leader in CMB for as long as he is there and wouldn't be shocked if he gets an A and is a C down the road if he stays there"

I'm sure he takes some personal responsibility for how people reacted as well, because the way he handled that situation was terrible. Doesn't make him a bad person, he was young, and everyone makes mistakes, but his home is Northeast Ohio, and he probably didn't want to spend the rest of his life with the people of their thinking poorly of him.

It probably doesn't hurt that they've stacked that roster with Top picks as a result of his departure.
