really?
I think there is a reason Dan Boyle was allowed to walk...he's getting old and you can't really count on him to get any better or even stay the same for that matter

- cpltanto

The thing is, hes not going to be our number 1. Girardi, Mcdonagh & Staal will all be logging more minutes. And if he stays the 2 minutes on the PP, Klein will be able to move up and fill in that spot with Staal for the next regular shift. I think Boyle is going to have a decent impact with this team, definitely on the PP.

As long as Marc Staal doesn't bring Boyle down.

Its strange, I used to read his stuff and he seemed objective. Once the MSL thing happened, its like they all went off the deep end. The Stralman stuff was particularly absurd.

The Rangers have enough defensive dmen. Boyle brings a skill the Rangers really don't have outside of McDonagh. Stralman was a good player, but with him gone Klein is more then capable of filling in his PK minutes. I love the move.

I liked stralman, wish he could have stayed. But people are making way too much out of the loss of a guy who was barely hanging onto an NHL job then had an excellent few months IN A CONTRACT YEAR. I'm pretty sure Dan Boyle can handle stralmans role...

I like the idea of John Moore and Boyle getting most of the Power Play time so the other 4 can play more regular minutes and PK.

I don't mind Moore on the 2nd unit, but Rangers need McDonagh on the first unit with Boyle. Finally have that rightly, lefty combo at the point they have been looking for.

Agreed. I am not a huge fan of a forward on the PP point at all; especially if you have a D-man that can shoot. McD and Boyle on PP #1 and Moore and Staal on #2.

I thought he was excellent in that series against the Penguins.

I think Dubinsky signed the contract with the Rangers, and then struggled with the pressure to live up to it. He's much more mature and well-rounded now, and a better player. Wouldn't surprise me if he got $5 million per.

His last contract was $4.2 million per right? Yea I can see this one being in the $5-5.5 million per year range.

Being paid like an elite player now, that's for sure. Basically, an equivalent deal to Callahan.

Edit: Actually, the elite player comment is not accurate. He's being paid like a very good player, a step down from the the top-notch guys.

I think it is a solid deal. With the cap most likely rising over the life of the contract, that cap hit isn't to bad at all. I don't remember Dubi every having injury issues?

Good for Dubi. Now the Nash contract doesn't look so bad.

Solid, durable, and still seems to have alot left in the tank. I actually think he comes with less risk than Callahan does, which is interesting, because 2 years ago I valued Callahan a hell of alot more than Dubinsky. If you gave may be the choice of either of those two deals now, I would take Dubinskys'.

They definetely did, but you also have to consider how far character alone can take you. Take Dubinsky for example, he had a good year this year, but in the two years prior, he scored 12 goals in 106 games. I guess it shows you what a good year can due, which is why I prefer looking at the bigger picture when evaluating players, and not getting too caught up in hot streaks and cold streaks.

I am not saying that Dubinskys' deal is necessarily a bad one, but that's alot of money, and to earn it, he at least needs to continue to put up this year's production (i.e., around 50 points).
