Of all the players out there the one I liken the most to Pouliot, though he has enjoyed some success in the NHL already, is Devin Setoguchi. RH shot, whose play has tailed off the last few seasons and needs to reverse that trend if he wants to stay in the NHL. I believe he's also only 27. If the Rangers could get Setoguchi for the same terms Anaheim got Heatley, then I pull the trigger.

I didn't want to say his name again, thought I was over killing it but Setoguchi is exactly the player I want them to sign

He's one of the few guys left I would still want to sign. I would have liked Heatley as well but setoguchi is top of the list for me now.

With Setoguchi being a RH shot and a need for another one on the PP even after getting Boyle, his being a young guy with talent and a track record, it seems like a no-brainer if I can get him for $1M next season. Maybe he's still holding out for more though.

There was talk of Heatley and the Jets, this might open up a chance to return, I hope Sather or Gorton are thinking like us though

I have to think they could afford $1M more on a vet. If he doesn't work out he doesn't. Nothing ventured, nothing gained in my book. I'd take a hard look at making that addition.

Toews and Kane 10.5 a year for 8 years... I see Chicago cap strapped after this year...

Crazy contracts. Most went into signing bonuses, but the cap hit is still insane. Perhaps they have some key players hitting UFA status after next season and this shows they may deal them during the season or let them walk.

I'm sorry, though these two are awesome players, is it smart to tie up nearly 1/3 of your cap in only two players?

Sather has RFA worries. Otherwise, I'd sign Guchi now.

They are pretty screwed next year even if the cap is like 77 million. Saad, Kruger and Leddy all RFA's due for a raise

we have 24% of our cap in 2 players this year with hank and Nash. I agree it's not smart but u can't let Kane or toews walk.

I guess it's something that all teams have to deal with.

It's like bloggers gone wild on this site the past few days. Now, the NJ blogger is making statements like "the numbers suggest that the Devils signed the best goaltender in hockey." I wish everyone would just stop! Seriously.

The numbers his teammates back him up with suggest the Devils are a mediocre hockey club, they're Milan Hedjuk away from reliving the Czech glory days
