Or, Ribeiro from Nashville at the deadline for Tampa's second round pick.

I was joking about the enforcer comment. And he has done some good. Traded for MSL, got Hank and G signed before they hit UFA, sign Mcdonagh to a friendly long term deal. But my comment about this off season, this one particular off season has not been good.

He had to let Pouliot and Boyle walk. Can't afford to pay those a combined 6 million. I'm fine with that. Everybody knows how I feel about Stralman for Boyle swap. Richards buyout was necessary. But not getting one of Zuccs, Brassard or Kreider to sign is bad. Hand cuffed the team into not being able to sign some depth guys to helo fill the void.

Tj, wanted Legwand, I wanted Ribeiro etc. The Rangers couldn't even afford those deal because of their own RFA question marks.

- tomburton99

The final chapter of this off-season book has yet to be written, however.

What if he gets Kreider to sign at 2 years/$4.5 million, Zucc at 4 years/$15 million, Brassard at 4 years/$17 million, and Moore at 2 years/$2.5 million?

And then he goes out and signs Setoguchi or Stempniak?

Does that change the outlook at all?

The other argument that you can make against the move is you did a good job of getting decent value for Dorsett, why not just re-sign Carcillo at 800K, rather than spending an extra 700K per on Glass. I don't understand that, but at the end of the day, I am also not going to go too crazy over the signing either.

Do I like it? No. Do I think it the worst thing ever? No.

- Pete V

I see Carcillo more as a 13th forward an glass as a 12th forward. But I see your point. Personally if it was my decision I would rather have Carter somewhere in that neighborhood instated of glass and used fast or Carcillo to fill out fourth line. Which could still happen. But honestly, this glass addition is getting way to much negativity

Meh, not really when you combine the length of the contract, the money, and how he has actually played. There are no positives. I pray he does well this up coming season and will be rooting for him, but i have a feeling we have another Pyatt.

At least Glass will be goony enough to high somebody.

People rag on Carcillo because he wasn't good enough but Carcillo over the course of his career has been the better. He has contibuted more on the score sheet in only 13 more games over Glass. But it is what it is.

Just biding the time until Hank convinces Daniel Alfredsson to play a year in New York on the cheap.

It should be more about the contract and when it was given rather than Glass himself, if players like Ribeiro, Roy and Heatley were available 2 weeks later and had for less money I'm not assuming incorrectly that Glass would've been unsigned still, any extra money helps

He's said that it would either be Detroit or retirement, so they would have to do quite a sell job.

I think they really thought they needed to fill Boyle's role once they realized he was gone. But from everything I looked at, the only thing Glass will do better than Boyle, is not use his face as a speed bag for another player.

I could care less about signing Ribeiro, I'm more disgusted that 2 players much better than Glass were signed 2 weeks after free agency started and for .5 a mil less, our 4th could be much better and much cheaper at the same time while enabling Sather to get the RFA's done already, with how he operates we're gonna lose another valuable piece in the end
- KreiderBomb

Glass is a totally different player than roy or ribeiro though. If you look at what boyle, prust, dorsett etc. get glass's contract is actually at a slight discount for what he provides.

Glass is a much faster and better skater. He was also at his absolute worst in pitt (and bylsma still loved his presence in the lockerroom) and should be better in ny.

Listen, theres a reason coaches and gms have gone.after glass as their first signing historically. Maybe he's just a great guy. I see him being no worse than prust or.dorsett but a lot cheaper.

Didn't someone say Glass was like top 10 last year for forwards in block shots? Or maybe that wasn't him

Hope it works out with Glass, but my grandmother in a jazzy is faster than Boyle, so no real accomplishment there. As far as defensively, I don't think its even a comparison and Boyle is much better.

nobody has really even brought up Ryan Haggerty as potentially taking a spot too

there was a reason they were were willing to give him a spot on the NHL roster immediately, he is definitely in the mix in training camp
