I definitely was thinking along same lines

I would be fine with that, but I don't think Sather likes to re-marry guys that either have been traded or left, and I really don't think AV cares too much for Del Zotto.

I also love inserting youth into the lineup, but absent any other signings, it looks like the Rangers will have to insert three rookies -- Fast and Miller, probably, and someone else. I would prefer signing another forward on the cheap, and limited the rookie inclusions to two.

Maybe we should just re-sign Del Zotto for $1 million, and trade John Moore for a third liner and a pick.

- Pete V

I don't know, I think there is a reason Del Zotto was traded last year. I don't think the organization wanted to move with him going forward.

yeah agreed, I don't think there is a chance he's coming back here

I think Tampa would make sense for MDZ. I know that Stamkos is his best friend and all the other former Rangers are there.

Wouldn't it be fun to pair DZ with the guy we traded for him?

I love...love...love that we may actually be giving a bunch of our young guys a chance. If it doesn't work out for some of them, keep the cap space and try to make an in season trade. But give them a chance to prove they belong
- TPC

That's what I don't get. People freak out over turnover but in reality only 2 players you could argue should still be here in Boyle and Stralman. Richards was a no brainer and Pouliot got stupid money. Is the Dorsett glass trade off really gonna make that much difference? The kids that are supposedly ready have already played up here so its there chance now. Everywhere I look rangers are screwed rangers are this rangers are that. Another under AV should do everyone good. Last year they started off horribly and ended up in the finals. We still have 7 of the top 9 and 8 of the same 12 forwards from last year and 5 of the same 6 defenseman. I really don't see why the majority of people are panicking

From an asset management perspective, the good thing about bringing in another guy via free agency on the cheap, is that you then have another asset to use in trade should you so choose. Indeed, there are guys that are signed in free agency that are often traded at the deadline for picks, or alternatively, some other guy can be traded because of the depth you acquire via free agency.

Personally, I still want the Rangers to add another player, which would still leave plenty of room for two young guys to make the roster.

How do you let him go for $1.05 million? Epic fail on Sather etc there. A very worthwhile risk at that cost

Didn't Smith bring Nedved back? Those years can be a blur sometimes.

So both Ribeiro and Roy for $1 mil each and we got Glass on day 1 for $1.5, just another hint that Sather should be put in a closet on July 1st, really bad job managing the cap

I still don't like Glass at 3 years, but I understand Sather's thinking in the matter. Dorsett was in the last year of his deal making 1.56 million about and was about to be a UFA, so he was due for a raise next offseason. By locking up Glass at 1.4 or whaterver, they are saving money on the current cap and future cap as well. Can Glass fill Dorsett's spot and minutes? Time will tell. Plus they turned Dorsett into a 3rd round pick, decent value.

We could have a 4th line of Winnick-Moore-Stempniak if Sather would have waited, no one would have signed Glass by now, already that contract is a hinderance

I think the Rangers just wanted to form a more fast glass line, because everyone needs more fast glass.

But seriously, Tanner Glass isn't destroying the cap. As TPC said, the Rangers moved Dorsett for good value (Iverson), and then essentially gave his money (slightly less) to a replacement, who AV wanted on the fourth line.

I don't think anyone liked the Glass signing, but it is also quickly becoming the most widely discussed sub-$1.5 million free agency signing ever.

Not signing heatley was a good move. Heatley has no legs left. Ribeiro for 1 million as your 3rd line center would have been amazing. But this is because of Sather. He now has to wait because he failed to sign Kreider and Zuccs when he had the chance. Not a good off season for him.

Is it all about the money, however? From a pure performance perspective, Ribeiro is worth way, way more than $1 million on a one year deal. The question is whether they want to insert him into that lockerroom, or whether they want to see what they have with Miller. Maybe they just want to give Miller his shot.

Curious move by Nashville, Fisher did get hurt but they now have Jokinen, Ribeiro, Roy, Wilson, Smith, Gaustad, Cullen, Järnkrok and Fisher when he gets healthy, that an absurd amount of Centers

A good offseason for Sather is when he throws shit at the wall and it sticks, most of the time it doesn't, I really have no faith in him as the GM of a winner
