Yeah.. Like the same team would be able to invest 24+ million for 2 players
in Cap world.
Fantasy land.
10.5 is not a home town discount in any shape or form.
Top heavy doesn't work, just ask the Pens.
They've had scrubs playing 3rd and 4th lines for a while now with the lesser
total hit for Crosby and Malkin.
Hawks fans just don't understand it yet.
They will, when Bickels, Hossa's, Saads and Shaws are gonna start trickling out. - StargateSG1
Fortunately, with the doing away of cap circumventing contracts, this is the new cap reality for every team in the nhl. The top heavy salary model will become more and more common imo.

If he wasn't elite they would have bought him out with that term left on his deal. |

The Leafs should trade for Weber Kadri Lup and Franson could be used to shore up the defense and then they could use their prospects for the forward depth. - puck-off

No, it means he's integral to their success as he's a terrific 2 way hockey player. He may not put up the flashiest numbers but he excels at both ends of the ice.
Easily replaceable......... |

Definatly a quality player.... 60 points last season including 30 goals , plays two- ways, 5.275 mill cap hit....Bickel I see as a waste of money on the Hawks Roster.... 15 points in 59 games at a 4 mill cap hit. With the hawks investing so much money in Toews and Kane they will have to get players who produce 15 points for less than 4 mill per |

And even if they don't, what else were they gonna do?!? Not pay them. Buffalo let briers and drury walk and never recovered from that and they are not even on Kane and toews level. |

No...you know the hawks had to sign them....but it does not mean the numbers they received made sense to everyone. The hawks now have to continue to draft well ( which they do) and replace players that don't fit financially with players that do in free agency( bargain shopping) |

Who cares team won 2 cups recently and has a chance for a year or 2 for another. Kane and toews don't care about Chicagos free agency 4 years from now. |

nice. They probably should because they are there for the next nine years. Let's not forget they were not the best in the west this year... Regular season or playoffs. Teams in the west during this off-season have got better....I can't say the same for the hawks. |

My point was not about saads value it was that Chicago is only a perennial contender bcz they have a Keith, seabrook, toews and Kane. They have a bunch of other good players but if they lose 2 of the above they are no longer elite. Somebody else will come along and fill those other players shoes if and when they leave Chicago. - joshs
And my point was, you don't win without great support players.
And they don't come at league minimum.
So K and T just screwed themselves out help for Cup runs.
8.5 - 9 mil wasn't enough?

I don't blame them 1 bit. Get payed and let Chicago deal with it. They are huge reason y Chicago won 2 and possibly 3. |

Just my opinion, but the Cap will never go above 80 million, if that.
Simple reason... Budget teams and bad market teams cannot possibly afford
the 60 million floor, even with "revenue sharing".
Simple as that.
There are other reasons as well.
If you go over 80 mil, what's even the point of the salary cap?
Might as well do a luxury tax, or something. |

IF the cap goes up to $84 million Toews and Kane will still account for 25% of it. - golfingsince
Great point, amazing!
Still can't believe the cap hits being so high, $8+, I would have guessed instead. |

First of all If you are going to make a serious offer for Weber it would most likely be: Bozak + Gardiner + High prospect or 1st round Pick (maybe both)
Secondly Weber is NOT on the block |
