Kane and Toews for $10.5 each!! What a joke. These players say they want to stay in a certain place play for a certain team then they proceed to fleece them for every nickel they can get!! How can a team have a chance to be competitive when two players take almost 1/3 of the cap!? Chicago is done as a team.
- Bullot

Could have gotten 12 mil if they wanted to fleece them for all their worth, or waited till next summer when they would have been offered MUCH more. Sooooo ur dumb. Wanna talk about a joke then lets talk about the Toronto Maple Leafs..

Yeah.. Like the same team would be able to invest 24+ million for 2 players
in Cap world.
Fantasy land.
10.5 is not a home town discount in any shape or form.
Top heavy doesn't work, just ask the Pens.
They've had scrubs playing 3rd and 4th lines for a while now with the lesser
total hit for Crosby and Malkin.
Hawks fans just don't understand it yet.
They will, when Bickels, Hossa's, Saads and Shaws are gonna start trickling out.

The Toews and Kane deals just seem like the inevitable effect of the cap. They'll be top-heavy going forward, like the Pens. Still good, still contenders, but top-heavy and that will have an effect. It's the cap creating parity by putting limits on top teams. No team will be able to win four or five in a row again. Then teams will get out of a lot of these deals after the next lockout, which is inevitable.

Too bad the Phaneuf thread got derailed because I was hoping this would be the thread were Phaneuf lollers cited some stats with their lollies. They never do...

IF the cap goes up to $84 million Toews and Kane will still account for 25% of it.

Right.. That's why Hawks refused to include Saad in Spezza trade.

The only thing I'm sorta rooting for is for all these great players to join power house teams thus leaving the rest of the nhl teams to ice inferior teams. Only 8 cities will care about hockey and the nhl will have a horrible year and cap goes significantly down. Problem is nhl will invent some amnesty rule or compliance buyout.

It's between Sharp and Seabrook on who is the odd man out going forward. More and more people keep saying Sharp.

Seabrook is just too clutch.

Need some other teams to start to picking up the slack.

A team needs to be relocated in the next 5 years to east coast of Canada, or Seattle.

My point was not about saads value it was that Chicago is only a perennial contender bcz they have a Keith, seabrook, toews and Kane. They have a bunch of other good players but if they lose 2 of the above they are no longer elite. Somebody else will come along and fill those other players shoes if and when they leave Chicago.

The Leafs should trade for Weber Kadri Lup and Franson could be used to shore up the defense and then they could use their prospects for the forward depth.
