Giroux has a real go-getter attitude. You could say that he really likes to grab the bull by the ass. - eichiefs9
I think you mean bull by the horn... Oh you... I see what you did there |

This is one of the problems with the league. People trying to justify a bad contract by comparing to another bad contract. Both of those are horrible horrible deals. - Iggysbff
Dion should be paid 5-5.5
Orpik 4
Niskanen ....I don't even know where to begin with this one |

10.5 a year! WAY TO MUCH. Kane and Toews are awesome, no doubt. But 10.5Million for 8 years straight?!!! Holly crap, that is almost 1/3 their salary. I expect a big name or two leaving next season via trade. Maybe Sharpie... Great players, but way to much to be spending on two guys. I thought 7.5 a year for Suter and Parise was scary, can't imagine what Hawks fans are going through. - Tweaterben

Not really. Every year the contracts go up, it's the NHL's version of inflation. You can't compare a guy that signed his contract 2 years ago to a guy that just signed his today.
Forgetting all that, he didn't get more than Quick. Quick's contract is worth $58M to Scheider's $42M. Schneider just has a higher AAV. |

Longer deals tend to be more cap friendly and on top of that as pointed out he signed 2 years after Quick's extension
Miller gets more than quick
Lundqvist gets alot more than him too |

It's wrong, nevermind
I didn't realize Quick's contract dropped that much at the end. |

Not really...
Higher AAV means he got MORE money over SHORTER period of time.

That's what I thought, but not in this case.
Quick's on a 10 year deal, he makes 7 for the first 7 years, and then he'll likely retire. |

You cannot discount the cheap years...
With cap recapture penalties and all, it's not valid |

Ok? It still doesn't change the total value of the contract. And Quick's is higher and was given during a time when NHL contracts were not, on average, as high as they currently are. |

over the next 6 years, Quick will make the same amount as Schneider will in the next 7.
Who knows what Schneider will get after that.
In the first 7 years of both their contracts, Quick gets paid more per year. |

According to Sheriff Shanny- Toronto's acquisitions this off season should be viewed as accomplishments... So I guess Phaneuf stays |
