Carrick plays like a Vet, and is Ott the type of vet you want? - PinkSock
Just look at Tampa last year. Everyone had them getting 2nd last place because no one thinks of rookies going into the lineup. |

Weren't you suggesting the Leafs get him instead of Evander Kane?
Also, Chris Stewart is a terrible hockey player, no matter what. - Pecafan Fan
I'm not comparing the players, I am comparing the assets required to obtain either.
It is very easy to make a broad statement lke "X is a terrible hockey player"...provide some back-up. You're here frequently - why don't you add some value and grace us with your superior hockey knowledge. Learn me. Why is Stewart terrible? I don't think he's so bad deployed properly, and he has the statistics to back that up over his career. |

Lets get Alfie.
No Leafs on the team have history with him anymore, and it'd piss off Ottawa fans to no end. |

Because we had one of the league's top scoring lines, that could blow out games.
But against tougher defensive teams, that line was all they had to focus on... and while they could still get a goal or two to save the embarrassment of a shut-out, the lack of secondary scoring cost the Leafs a lot of games this season. - Feeling Glucky?
no
just no
there is plenty of offensive talent, proven so in fact.
offense isnt just one zone.. it starts in your own end.. if your own end is a mess.. so is your offense
its rather simple
better d and transition leads to more offense.
its a rather basic premise of hockey actually. |

All this talk about sending a big package for Kane is the wrong way to go in my opinion. This team has weaknessess and adding Kane doesn't address them.
If we are going to make a huge deal it should be for a top center or top two defenseman. Also I am opposed to trading our first next year. You don't add guys like Nylander through trades, you have to draft them. |

But that's the only time he's had that bad of a season, and on a team that focuses on defense.
He could bounce back to mid 20s in the goals department, and 40-50 points.
No big loss, either way... hell, Santorelli had 28 points in only 49 games last season. |

I won't disagree with that.
But there's still room for improvement on the 2nd line, IMO... not that I'd mind giving Clarkson another chance/seeing what Leivo could do.
I'm just saying, more offensive depth wouldn't hurt the team, even if it's not the top priority... and there aren't too many options to fix the defense in free agency anymore. So, if you can't fix your weakness, may as well double down on the strengths. |
