I am not sure this is true. They still have only one line that scores consistently and if they ever adopt the much-needed team defense strategy I wonder if they will struggle to score.

I think they didn't have problem scoring because nobody paid much attention to defense.

Biggest problem last year was offensive zone puck position. We couldn't cycle the puck at all or win a battle against the boards to wear down the defense. We were one and done. Come in with speed take a shot at net and retreat.

rather give Carrick a chance...and Ott got dummied by Ashton, which makes him a punching bags - punching bag
- PinkSock

People seem afraid to put rookies in the lineup. They can do a better job than Ott that's for sure.

Yeah put an old 28 pt player with a bad attitude on our team to take away a young players spot. Perfect.
- JVR_42_PK81

He would be a 2nd liner, who's spot would he take?

He was well surrounded with the Blues, which allowed him to pick up points.

He was a throw-in in the Halak/Miller trade. He's really nothing special.

I agree 100%. Good team mate and hard worker but I think a tad overrated by some Leaf fans.

Honestly, he didn't win too many battles last year either. He was lost on the cycle and his game wasnt the same without Grabo.

put him on the 2nd line with Kadri and Lupul, and he's fairly well surrounded and sheltered.

But on the other hand, his possession stats are pretty bad.

Wouldn't mind taking a chance on him, if it doesn't cost much, but won't shed tears over not getting him, either.

Carrick plays like a Vet, and is Ott the type of vet you want?

This team desperately needs someone/anyone to play balls out and strike some fear into defenders when they have the puck.

Came across this the other day. Did not know Sundin was so high on the list. And Forsberg pretty much made more than anyone on a $ per year avg.

the other lines would score more if they could turn the puck over in their own end and have successful breakouts

when the leafs do get on offense they do well.. its their transition game and D that sucks balls.

Do they take turns or is it a group event?
