Go for Kane, if you can get him. That's how you sometimes change the fortunes of your team around. Tyler Seguin? They run him out of Boston for similar behaviour and look at him now? When he get's a bit older, he'll grow up and you'll get yourself a sniper. I'd do a JVR even up for him.

i dont think its worth doing JVR for him. the only way its worthwhile to get kane is if we send our crap to the jets like we did with the phaneuf trade.

Trading Lupul for Kane would make sense. Not cap wise, but for purposes of building a Top 6 that grows together yes. Sure, throw in some consolation pieces but now you have a young kid with value you can ship off if the fit isn't there, before the value diminishes. Taking waivers on assets is wise when well utilized.

Phaneuf is better than Bogosian. Bogosian is also just starting to come around, so I don't see that happening. And throwing in 2 top round picks in a deep draft, and a good 1B Goaltender for Kane whose offense really hasn't been impressive doesn't make any sense. All in all, it is a decent offer but makes no sense for either team.
