His point isn't that it wasn't part of the equation.

His point is that it shouldn't be.

well, if you're not paid for what you accomplish, it makes no sense.

Except of course he isn't. He's been prone to youth related giveaways and poor decisions, which is totally normal.

The year he has this upcoming season, if we don't give him more than a bridge, will make every single person here wish we had. Book it.

- mcleafs

so you say "except of course he isn't" but he's prone too giveaways and poor decisions?

meh,,,could care less if he played on the Leafs.

#5 #6 D not worth $4m

he could improve...but needs to before he gets paid.

We had this discussion last week. I'd take Toews overall.

Crosby>Toews
Malkin>Kane

It will be even harder for Chicago to win than it was for Pitt.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Nah, Chicago has a far more balanced team than Pittsburgh, and they'll just get cheaper every year as the cap goes up.

Think about it this way, if JVR cotinues to improve, and becomes a consistent PPG player by the time he's UFA, he'll probably be looking at the exact same contract, if not more.

I disagree.
I believe toews to be the best all round player in the league.
But if Crosby were signing a deal after bringing two cups to the team, it would be for the same amount of cash

Sid makes more than they just signed for, currently.

Philly will get rid of Vinnie eventually. Simmonds? not in a million years. Bickell to FLA.
- DoubleDown

I think it will be tough to unload Vinnie. Either way they have to move out some serious cash and even then they can only slot in something cheap if they do. (Unless its a blockbuster I guess)

love this comment. i think it makes so much sense. the problems teams run into, it's not from paying Phil Kessel $8 million or PK Subban $9 million. it's from paying David Clarkson and Dave Bolland north of $5 million.

I could easily think of 10 players better than Kane. Toews deserves it, but I don't think Kane does.. Just my opinion.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

Can you think of 10 active players with 91 points in 93 playoff games?

eesh, yea... gravy would overpower the lobster, and I can't see the two flavours getting along very well.
- Feeling Glucky?

Amen, Gluckster.

You don't put gravy on lobster.

For those of you in Toronto who are looking for the best lobster roll, go here:

Best.

But winning the cup isn't an individual accomplishment.

You're paid on performance. Two identical players on different teams should make the same amount, even if one team is a perennial cup winner, and the other is Edmonton.

He does it all. Not many like him. I'd have Doughty really high on that list as well - top 2 I think.

So now Chicago is over the cap by 2mil and Philly is over by 3.

Who goes from each? Bickell? Read? Simmonds? Buyouts?

- markmark

Why would you bring that up man..
