Whats up with Jacob De Serres?

- MrBigglesworth

After getting drafted he went half and half with whatever other goalie the Thunderbirds had and proceeded to suck as did the whole team. Traded to the Wheat Kings decent numbers in his half a season there and not so great in the playoffs. Ends up in the QMJHL with Saint John and puts up amazing numbers in his one season there both in the regular season and playoffs. Then proceeds to dominate the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) with the University of Calgary and that's about it.

I think his career path indicates he's not much of an NHL prospect and i doubt he even belongs to the flyers anymore.

I just don't see him as a 1st line player, that's why I wouldn't be surprised to see him moved as a part of a package deal. Maybe just wishful thinking!
But E Kave would look great with G and Jake.

Never mind first line, I'm not sure Umberger can even play anymore.

I still clutch my Bob jersey every night and cry myself to sleep.

You want Mason for 4.1 per or Bob at 5.65 on this team? Bob's good but at that salary on this team glad to have Mason.

Schenn G Simmonds (Park Simmonds in front of the net while Schenn and G run around)
Umberger VL Voracek (gets a good playmaker on a line where he can feed VL in his natural center position, while having two defensively responsible players make up for VL's deficiency)
Akeson Couturier Read (a good two way line that seemed to work well in the playoffs)
Bells Laughton Raffl (another good two way line that can take some of the defensive pressure of line #3

Its how I see it.

I was being half sarcastic. Initially I hated the trade because I could see Bob being a true #1 goalie and we got a questionable goalie in return. I'm glad Mason stepped up his game and hope he continues to do so.

Was he good at face offs?
I can't remember but think he was average to below average.
I see him more as a winger even though he spent time as a C last year.

- Marc D

He is more of a winger, but if they aren't going to start the season with Laughton on the team and BSchenn is playing LW he's the best 4C we have.

agree
I think they are trying to get another bottom six forward though, maybe it doesn't work out

The transcript said Hexy is still working on getting another role player

I think it is likely to be a 4th line shut down C to take some share of the defensive pressure with Couts

They haven't replaced Hall and I think they should try and upgrade that spot if feasible. Brian Boyle would have worked there.

- Marc D

I would speculate that he might be talking about Hall.

I like it alot. Though I am not sure Berube will split up Giroux and Voracek.

EDIT: The only other issue is that the first line does not have any great defensive players or much speed on the wings.

oh no they won't! the cap just keeps going up, and in a few years, those deals will be steals!!!!
- hammarby31

How do you think those deals make the Giroux deal look? Giroux, Toews, and Kane are all top echelon players in the League. Salary escalation at work.

Barring any additional moves that's probably the way it will look. Some question marks, but there is some upside as well.

That looks good to me. lines are balanced and Giroux has some "protection" from wrist slashers.

I like Hall and hope he comes back. On a side note, whatever happened to Powe? We traded him for a third and, if I remember correctly, he was waived by the Rangers last year.

I think Powe had some concussion issues over the last 12+ months, not certain how he is now.

Well it's not going so well for the Pens...
- Giroux_Is_God

The Hawks have replenished through the draft better than the Pens, which means guys like Saad get to make an impact on cheaper deals for a couple/few years.

Since 2006, the Penguins have gotten 100 or more NHL games from two drafted forwards, Jordan Staal and Dustin Jeffrey. In that same time frame, the only Pittsburgh drafted D-man to get to 100 NHL games was Jake Muzzin.

In the same time frame, Chicago's had 5 drafted forwards play at least 100 games for them
