If it's B Schenn and Grossmann for him, then I'd do it. But I wouldn't include a 2015 1st (or second), and I don't think Hexy would, either. This is a team that will be built through the draft, and I don't think trading the first in possibly the best draft since 2003 is a good way to go about that.

Ok. Then no picks.

Philly:
Kane

WPG:
B. Schenn
Grossmann or L. Schenn

Just really happy about the direction. Nowhere in that STH meeting article was there a mention from the brass about "competing for a Cup every year" or any of that other nonsensical crap.

Hextall seems to understand how to build in a cap environment, it's clear that the franchise has taken a significantly different approach. Exciting stuff.

I don't see the Flyers getting EKane.
I think other teams will have better offers then the Flyers.

I I know you guys have something against responding to my posts when you feel they're too long, so let me summarize.

I know many view Hextall as our savour as if he built the last two Kings championships singlehandedly because he was assistant GM but in my opinion those championships were built on splashes. The Black Hawks on the other hand were built on drafting. Toews, Kane, Keith and Seabrook. Enough said.

The Kings three best players were all drafted by the them. Quick, Doughty, Kopitar.

And the players that got them over the humb were trades for Richards, Carter and Goaborik

I know it is a pipe dream. And i would actually prefer Bogosian over anyone on that team. I think he still can improve and be the number 1 guy we need.

Yeah, it's OK to trade for secondary pieces. It's very hard to trade for a great goalie, a #1D or a #1C.

do you folks see umberger as a first line player ?

i don't

- -davies-

I don't see him as a 1st-line player, but I see him being able to match Hartsy's ES production w/o too much trouble... at 5V5, Hartsy had 10G in a scoring role and Umberger had 8G in a shutdown role this past season.

And a captain like Brown. Love him or hate him, he's a great captain.

Yeah but, you know, as the salary cap goes up, they'll look like steals.

I think he'll be fine as a complimentary piece on that line. He just needs to be able to retrieve pucks faster than Hartsy for those two and let them work

I'll grudgingly agree if I can take that back 1 game into the preseason.

For me it still comes back to creating 2 or 3 significant holes when you trade for a high caliber player like Evander Kane.

If the Flyers do something like this I think it will be for a top pair defenseman.

And these types are just not really available.

Maybe they decide they would rather have a top winger like Kane and trade a center like BSchenn for him. To me that would be a fair hockey trade.
But BSchenn + + is too much. And likely someone else will offer that type of deal.
