And that's playing on the second 5 on 4 pp unit - acmilano3
Which averages 30 seconds of ice time per PP. 1st unit basically plays the entire time |

unless they are getting quality back for vinny (more than the hartnell trade) i say keep him. and play him at center. he will score 20-25 goals and provide some size in the middle. do not give him away - MrPerfect316
No worries..i don't think they can |

Correct me if I am wrong but don't all teams need to become cap compliant before they are able to put anyone on LTIR?
If that's the case according to CapGeek they need to shed $3 Mil in salary. - EastCoastOiler
Not really. Capgeek shows that teams have 2 options get cap compliant before the season and put him on IR day one of the season or put him on LTIR on the last day of training camp, fill the 1.8 mill of cap space that it frees up on call ups and then demote them Day one of the season. To keep the 1.8 mill in cap space |

If they are going to end up eating half the salary I would rather they just keep Vinny.
It is going to be interesting to see him back after the offseason rested and healthy. I hope that back of his is better. He was ripping it up in Oct and Nov until his injury.
Whatever Chief decides to do with him should he stay, please don't play him at wing. He is a Center and nothing more. |

My problem with the vinny situation is that vinny has value and teams think that we have to pay a price to trade him and think Philly also has to take on some of his salary. Why would Philly do that? Give me a solid reason why. Cap space can easily be rectified before season and then becomes a non issue after the furst day of the season because of pronger and ltir. Why would we pay a team like Nashville with a pick to take a 2nd line center who put up 20 goals. I'm perfectly fine with vinny staying in Philly next season. Well take his 20 goals. trade him for a minor piece a late pick or fringe NHL prospect if you can but you don't give him away and sweeten the deal by giving away a pick and eat half the salary. It's just ridiculous IMO . People forget he played injured pretty much staring after the first month of the season. Then was bumped down to fourth line for the last 2 months and playoffs. He still put up 20 goals playing with Adam hall and Zac Rinaldo. |

Your right in one way... the more money philly keeps, the more value it has for them. but the picks is backwards.
philly doesnt keep any money, no deal
philly keeps 1 mil, then philly only gives up a third
philly keeps 1.5, then maybe only a 5th... etc, etc. nashville doesnt need vinny in the least, he would be a luxury. calle j, wilson, etc could step up, derek roy is available at I am sure a discount rate, so forth an so on. - ChrisMS
To say nsh doesn't need vinny in the least is laughable. Did anyone on the preds score 20 goals last season? |

Incorrect, they can be 10% over the cap ceiling during the offseason and prior to the start of the season. So if you go to CapGeek...as long as the Flyers do not exceed -$6,900,00 then they are cap compliant for the offseason.
As long as the Flyers are below Pronger's salary (-4.9M), once the season starts then put him on LTIR. |

"At times it feels like Yzerman's respect for the franchise as a LEGIT franchise is very debatable.
I know Yzerman just won gold for a second time and I always had so much respect for the guy as a player. But he has a job to do and with the exception of the Bishop trade what has he done since taking over for Brian Lawton....really? This is still Lawton's team."

Smith, Weber, Hornqvist and Fisher.
The Preds don't need Vinny. They're not a threat to win the Cup, and making the playoffs is debatable with or without him. They need to look to the future, even if that means playing the kids, and they have several prospects who might end up being very effective in the NHL including Jarnkrok, Forsberg, Sissons, Watson, Beck and Salomaki.
Paying for Vinny's full contract would be detrimental to the team. I don't see them doing it despite Fisher's injury. |
