Versteeg and rosi...for john scott and a 6th......thats what those 2 will get you....
- southernhawk

If the Hawks can get a 6th round pick for Rozsival, and can re-sign Brookbank I'd be just fine with it.

Lets give steeger an entire summer to train and get his body (knee) right before throwing him in the trash.

JJ: I BELIEVE this to be correct... but isn't there a cap on the max contract you can offer a player?

I had a buddy tell me that these two might have gotten 13-15 on the open market. I do not believe a team could offer that amount.

- CaptainBlackhawk

first post cap-ear CBA it was 20% IIRC.

Lets worry about trading sharp next summer. I say he's a blackhawk for another run. Then who knows.
- Vanhawk

Well, doesn't it all depend on what they need to ice a full roster and get under the cap? maybe moving Oduya doesn't get it done.

I'll take it. Scott can dress when we play the blues and have the rest of the year off.

With 19. 88 new deals...bicks will no doubt have to put up numbers ... you cant pay 4mill of your cap to bottom 6 players when 19 88 take up 21 mill by them selves...even versteeg at what..2.2 may not be a financial option

But more injury prone. Also his play has been declining. At this point its really a preference thing. I would take the known quantity in Crawford instead of bringing in a new guy. You would take Anderson.
- Walky

Anderson at $3.2 million a year? Absolutely. I do agree, he's fallen off a tad, not sure why, could be the dings. But he's been vastly underrated for years. Still has the #1 job in OTT too, even though the great Robin Lehner has been waiting in the wings for 2+ years.

Versteeg's bad play last year looked to me a lot more mental than physical, he's not a smart hockey player. I'm not buying the knee issues.

Steeger is a wild card...if he can get healthy it adds to the depth of the Hawks...again there is that word "if'

....and if John Scott can be traded and get a 5th round pick Rosival would bring back equal value IMO.

Eh, being a hot goalie prospect being forced to learn the pro game on the job behind a crap squad will make any kid regress

Markstrom was supposed to have "vezina contender" written on him for years in Florida and never pieced it together either

If John scott can get a 5th and Bollig can get a 3rd then surely roszival can get a 1st!

Yeah, Bill Wirtz was such a nice guy and rewarded his players, that's why anyone who was good was traded away. He was a douche.
- Hemingways

Bobby Hull, that was Arthur Wirtz. JR and Belfour, all about the attitudes. Chelios, hated losing more than being with the Red Wings. Larmer, he wanted out because of Sutter. If Bill Wirtz was a douche it was when he raised the beer prices every time he got booed when there was a presentation. Or being loyal to his detriment. Certainly for not putting the home games on tv. Bill Wirtz was anything but cheap, but he loved when Verdi coined the name Dollar Bill Wirtz in his column. Ya, they sucked for a long time. But if you like NHL hockey in Chicago you have no choice but to give him some props. Anyone else would have bailed with the losses from the 50's. late 70's, and mid 90's to 2007 or 2008. If I have a problem it's that he didn't keep the old barn around to use on occasion. What would the ticket prices be for game in that building these days? That place was awesome.

No, these are usually cause and effect situations. Meaning, yes, there are probably dots that can be connected here, and either Oduya or Leddy is gone.

I heard in March the team planned to move Oduya for picks and Dahlbeck would matriculate. They love him. See him as Hjalmarsson Lite.

- John Jaeckel

Whoever is moved Bowman is now trading from weakness. The FO indecisiveness - whatever the reason - may have really burned them. They had to have an idea where the cap would be....

I wonder if they gain $3m in cap space from an Oduya move would they still be seen as being in a weak position. I suspect the first move will bring back a crap return. Hope that does not begin a trend.

Evander Kane is 22 years old ? And a bad ass power forward. I know he is a turd but so was Kane at 22. Eveander Kane shot the puck on goal 260+ times last year , something the Hawks sorely need even with the addition of Richards is to get the puck to the net and see what happens. EKane puts pressure on opposing D behind their own net. EKane could do very well around the leadership of Toews.

TT is 165 lbs soaking wet.

But again , the $ wouldn't work for the Hawks .

- mrpaulish

After today's news... a player of this stature will not be able to fit within the Hawks plans.

They now live in a homegrown/Brad Richards type signing for the next decade or so.

Plus E. Kane is beyond a "turd" - guy is straight up cancer that breeds the type of "how did we just loose 4 games straight to the LA Kings in the 1st round" performances.

Chemistry is more important than most think. If you think otherwise... you've never played the game in a competitive setting before.

That ship has sailed. Corey Crawford and someone paid a lot less are your goalies for the next few seasons.

Top NHL salaries in 2003-04: Forsberg $11M, Jagr $11M, Fedorov $10M, Lidstrom $10M, Tkachuk $10M

You do realize those are ALL before the cap era. Big difference.

Who ever tweets those are not thinking. Monopoly money is fun to throw around.

As I stated earlier, it's from Super Doosh Agent Allan Walsh. Why anyone takes that guy seriously is beyond me.

I remember a locker room interview following the 2013 season where the player being interviewed (my old worn out memory remembers that it was Kane being interviewed but could be wrong) saying that the players were going to do whatever it takes to keep this team together. That sure didn't last long !

But I've spent so much time griping about the Hawks not keeping their stars that I can't criticize this. Love that they got their worth and are around for 8 more years, hate what it does to our depth.

The 'real' old man and the golden jet: 6/27/72 still sticks in my craw.

No way the bldg would have stayed, as much as we would have liked it. Mayor's family had a part of Standard Parking who operated all the lots close-by the barn and wanted no part of an old joint taking up hundreds of spots.
