Jr signed in Phoenix for exactly what Wirtz was offering. Wirtz offered 3.5 and JR laughed. Wirtz said well, then show me what the market is. Then JR shot off his mouth. Wirtz told Bob Murry to get rid of him today. So the trade involving Zhamnov and JR happened. Then JR signs for 3.5 per with Phoenix. If it wasn't for hockey JR would be working at Burger King. And if it wasn't for his big mouth his number would be in the rafters about now. Everyone goes on and on about the money with Bill Wirtz. He spent money (didn't get his moneys worth a lot of the time). It's the attitude he wouldn't tolerate. He took no poop from anyone. Arthur Wirtz his father was the cheapskate. And it was Mike Wirtz that paid everyone, not Bill.

Yeah, Bill Wirtz was such a nice guy and rewarded his players, that's why anyone who was good was traded away. He was a douche.

Sharp.

Leddy.

Oduya.

or any combo of Sharp Leddy

Oduya Sharp .

Gotta shed 3m here people from players that teams actually would want .

I don't think it was by mere chance that the FO was pumping Klas Dahlbeck's tires today.

JJ: I BELIEVE this to be correct... but isn't there a cap on the max contract you can offer a player?

I had a buddy tell me that these two might have gotten 13-15 on the open market. I do not believe a team could offer that amount.

- CaptainBlackhawk

I believe the max is 20% of the cap = 13.8

JJ,

does a Sharp and Leddy for Greening, Z. Smith and future 1st get it done?

- ChicagoDave

Your guess is as good amine but it seems like a nice deal. However, here's the thing. NOW you have to hope an opposing GM has a real strong "desire" for a aperticular hawk player because any leverage Bowman had now to move salary is gone. he is officially on Desperate Street.

Only other choice would have been a huge roll of the dice and dealing Kane. Otherwise, you had to pay them. This FO will pay it's stars and not rock the boat. But anyone thinking this is 'good" from an overall roster standpoint is wrong.

Now, whether you're a believer in the Great Hawk Prospect Dream or not, you better hope it works.

Anderson's two years older than Crawford.
- John Jaeckel

But more injury prone. Also his play has been declining. At this point its really a preference thing. I would take the known quantity in Crawford instead of bringing in a new guy. You would take Anderson.

2/3/95 and so it began. I was there along with a few dozen other diehards. Got a chance to again say hi and shake hands with the now late-great Maggie, Keith Magnuson. Then upon seeing dollar bill, I felt I had to share an unpleasantry with him. Knowing I had helped him finance the tearing down of the Stadium with the purchase of one of the banners, made me feel all the more the sucker and pissed off.

The "turn" around for this team could have been handled by any regular fan.

-Put ALL the games on TV
-Actually try and Win

This was an easy turn around . People have always LOVED The Blackhawks . LOVED them. Knew it wouldn't take long to get fans back in the seats

I would still not be terribly surprised to see P. Sharp on the next Air Canada 737 to Ottawa. or some other Eastern Conference destination. Possibly Oduya. Possibly Leddy.
- John Jaeckel

You thinking that happens this summer JJ?? All 3??

Sounds about right - I remember hearing there was a max of the cap involved. Thank you.

If what others say is true (and I haven't looked at the cap numbers yet), and the Hawks need to shed $3 million before the season starts, how do you envision it happening. No one is going to =give you a box of tape for Rozsival or Versteeg.

So do you move Sharp NOW to make room for the upcoming seasons and while Sharps return value is likely as high as its ever going to get?

Or do you hold on to sharp, hope the Richards experiment works, and give it one more REAL solid playoff run before they have to start shedding players, AGAIN?

Because no doubt moving sharp now for cheaper depth player and prospect/pick or two will certainly certain for the 2014-15 season

But holding on to him longer lessens his return and we have to risk that Sharp regresses further from a career year and disappointing playoffs

Bowman is in a pickle

There's a LOT more from a marketing perspective then the two points you've mentioned above. The issue is if the "marketing guys" have meddled in the "hockey guys" bi-dness.

Both were set to be UFA's. Imagine what they could have paid if hit open market. After watching roenick belfour cheli leave, this is great to see! Go Hawks!

You didn't sign Richards to a one year deal in hopes of preparing for following seasons.

No, these are usually cause and effect situations. Meaning, yes, there are probably dots that can be connected here, and either Oduya or Leddy is gone.

I heard in March the team planned to move Oduya for picks and Dahlbeck would matriculate. They love him. See him as Hjalmarsson Lite.

They couldn't have been offered anything more than 13.8 I do believe as also helped by EB.

Agreed. I'd have to guess that Sharp is staying this season, and one of Oduya or Leddy are leaving.

I don't think they move Sharp now but if they do, if I'm Bowman I attach Versteeg to that deal or no deal at all. For those who say it can't be done, it's exactly what Bowman did when he traded Buff and it had to include Sopel and Eager.

Yup. It makes sense. You deal from your organizations strengths. Right now they have players on the blue line close to/if not ready to be on the big league club. You have someone for draft picks.
