Well, he will probably make more on his next deal, but A. Niemi would be one.

Personally, I think Craig Anderson would be as good (or better) with the Hawk D in front of him. Bobrovsky makes slightly less.

Not sure Brian Elliott isn't as good or nearly as good as Crawford, quite frankly.

I think Crawford's good but not elite but I also think most goalies are overpaid anyways. I wasn't shocked at the money he got but more so the length, Hawks better hope he doesn't go Cam Ward on them.

Just like there were no Detroit fans before Stevie Y came around.

The Blackhawks averaged more than 16,000 fans per home game from 1982-2000.

It was damn near impossible to get Hawks tickets until 2001 .

From 1962-1970 the Blackhawks wer emore popular than the Chicago Bears , averaging over 16,000 per game in the 1960s !

So WTF are you talking about new fans ?

Bottom line on Toews/Kane signings: core players on 2-time Cup winner in major market. If either went UFA, they'd get more $ on 7-year deal

JJ,

When do you anticipate the phone call from Sharp asking you to help him with his flight to Ottawa?

OMG, this pearl just got lost in all the 19 & 88 resigning excitement:

"Not sure Brian Elliott isn't as good or nearly as good as Crawford, quite frankly."

Wow. Just ... wow.

- Q...argh

Just my opinion. He's been hot as a firecracker at times, too. he and Halak were a real nice tandem in St. Louis.

You know what, I don't assail you for unabashed man-love of all things Blackhawk, either, so, lighten up.

It was brought up....if all of the goalies mentioned played for the hawks and won a cup, would they too not ask for $6M per?

Like you said Nemo makes more on his next deal probably equivalent to crawford money-wise.

Anderson and Elliot are both old guys and won't last for more than another year or two. Well elliot might, being sheltered behind the blues D.

Brobovsky is going to make bank next year.

Fact is, as much as it sucks the hawks have to pay crawford or hope to hit a goalie jackpot somewhere. Maybe raanta works out, thats probably the plan for now. Cost of business.

The length bothered me too. 4 years would have been more appropriate IMO.

And I would agree with you. If it were Pekka Rinne or Henrik Lundqvist or even Jonathan Quick, I think you can make an argument about paying them significantly more and term.

The truth is, there is NOT that huge a gap between the Great Corey Crawford and the "pack" of NHL goalies. Some would argue, he is on the better end of "the pack." In fact, most would argue that.

Id try and move Rozsival and Versteeg now....and then next summer Sharp, Oduya, and Kruger/Shaw. Maybe Leddy too. As long as we bring back either one of Kruger or Shaw and find a bridge deal for Saad then we should be able to remain a contender, and maybe even start taking runs at the Cup again as soon as 2016-17 depending on how we fill the holes(especially on defense) and rebuild around the core. Fun times ahead.

Thanks again, but I guess my point being was that TT is not really a proven top prospect that you guys have, so to put him in a package for a proven player is a no-brainer.
Ex.. TT is no Strome, Druin, etc... but has that ability to maybe be.. right???

- Ur Not Me

TT is rated 13 (right behind Griffin Reinhart). Strome is 6 and Drouin is 2. That is HF but the order is pretty consistent among the services.

No question it would take a package and salary going to WPG but TT would be a key piece if not the central piece.

I would still not be terribly surprised to see P. Sharp on the next Air Canada 737 to Ottawa. or some other Eastern Conference destination. Possibly Oduya. Possibly Leddy.

Fire commish was always barking at the old man, Arthur that is, about exceeding capacity in the old barn. So many a game, years actually, the 'announced' attendance was 16,666. A couple decades later when 'capacity' was 17,317, they "allowed" up to 18,472 in the barn but the all time high attendance was 20,960 for a 1982 playoff game vs the Minnnnnasota North Stars...

As I stated in a previous thread: Anyone believing that they would take a "hometown discount" were greatly fooling themselves. These are two established, elite, superstars in this league where if they were on the open market would have gotten more money. We aren't talking about Brad Richards who needed to take a discount to prove himself.
- CaptainBlackhawk

$10.5 can be seen as a home town discount. Particularly when you look at what both players would bring on the open market next year. They could both easily see 12 plus.

$10.5 is definitely more reasonable than yesterday's 10.8 reports. Even $600k helps the cap situation though it is still constricting.
