maybe. but there are teams that would probably offer more.
Boston=Eriksson and Boychuck. - DoubleDown
Is that really more though?
Is Eriksson even allowed to remove his helmet when he gets off the ice?
Plus, Boston may not want him. They got rid of Seguin for the same reason Winnipeg is supposedly looking at moving Kane: attitude. |

More because top 4 Dmen are hard to come by? Because that's the only reason I can see...
I get that Leafs fans overvalue their players, but that doesn't mean that any random twosome from any other team is better just because they aren't Leafs. Preposterous.
Loops is our 3rd best forward and Reimer would be a hometown goalie on the cheap with starter potential. That's far from worthless. |

Kadri is the more accurate comparison, IMO and if I needed a top 6 forward and starting goalie as much as the Jets, then yeah I absolutely would make that trade.
Kane dragged my hockey pool into the dirt this past season. (frank) that guy |

"Cheveldayoff would apparently want a top-6 forward or top-4 defenseman in return for Kane."
Perfect. Franson + Levio. You get your top 4 and a possibly another top 6 back. |

Lupul was a PPG on Kessel's wing too. I love JVR and his beauty of a contract, but I would take a look at that trade if it fit the needs of my club. Certainly.

i just think you have to look at it from Winnipeg's perspective. they are the definition of mediocre. this is a productive top-6 forward. losing him is a big hit. they absolutely need to show something this year or KC is finished. he is not going to trade a top-6 winger without at least getting a replacement. only one i can see the Leafs willing to deal is Lupul. and realistically, that's not enough. - DoubleDown
Lupul won't waive his NTC to go to Winnipeg, no player will. So to do a deal with the Peg you've got to overload them on prospects and a couple roster players. I'm pretty sure Franson is an upgrade on Clitmore or Clitsome or whatever that (frank)ers name is. Their goalie is garbage so adding Reimer is a risk but may well pay off. Give em 3 prspects too, honestly who gives a poop about losing 3 B level prospects. |

Another way to look at is would you trade Kadri for a 30 year-old injury prone forward and a backup goalie? |

Nope.
But at the same time, you don't have the rumors of mutual dislike between him and the team. |

top-5 protected 1st, Franson, Reimer, Leivo for Kane.
That's a damned good package, IMO. - Feeling Glucky?
No man.
Winnpeg has a back up goalie already...I dont know why people think they need a 2 million dollar back up back up.
Also, Chev is already on record saying that he wants a young skilled NHL forward who is locked up.
So a B prospect, back up goalie, Franson and a 1st I dont think fits the bill. |

A bit better. No I wouldn't.
Crazy how much changes in 2 years, eh?
Couple of seasons ago, Lupul was the all-star top-line LW and Reimer the starting goalie with respectable numbers.
We go out and get some better pieces and they all of a sudden become worthless. Not that their play declined all that much, but they just fell down the depth chart. |

Reimer's a backup behind Bernier.
Winnipeg doesn't have Bernier. |

The other 29 NHL teams don't have that mutual dislike - that's the problem. i have to believe that there's a giant market for a guy like Kane. Every team thinks they can 'fix' those kind of issues. He's big fast and 22 yrs old and has put a 30g season under his belt. |

Like I said earlier, he's 2 seasons removed from those 30 goals, and while I'm sure most teams would put in an offer, their offers aren't necessarily going to be world-beaters.
I'm sure a lot of contenders take a look at the attitude rumours and say "no thanks"- if you're going for the cup, you don't want to be dealing with bad attitudes in the dressing room, and if your team's window is closing, you don't want to spend the time fixing him. |

Weren't Richards and Carter moved for "attitude problems"?
Worked out well for LA in the end. |

True enough.
But they also had a better NHL record, and LA and Columbus didn't exactly break the bank for them. |

Well they weren't playing for the Thrashers/Jets either.
Man the Jets are a mess. Wow. |
