i dont think the leafs ever get much better with phaneuf as captain and nonis as GM
shanny will see this eventually i hope - Dozzer
It's Shanny I'm more worried about. Giving Carlyle an extension? Begging Gorges and Bolland to play on the Leafs? |

Pointed this out earlier. Risk only works at the right time and you need to have the depth to absorb the loss if it doesn't work out. |

So is/was Gleason. - burn
gleason is tough, he can shot block and fight if need be. he is slow though and not the best all round D man...he doenst lay a lot of big hard hits, because his speed...thats why we bought him out and got Polak, he is basically Gleason but better...and cheaper, and younger.

But the risk has to be at the right time. Lombardi with the kings was slow and patient and made a bi move at the right time.
Making a big risking move at the wrong time could be catastrophic. - burn

thats not the damned point
nonis is not a risk taker
he is slow and patient
winners take risk
its pretty damn simple - Dozzer
so essentially, you're advocating to trade someone like Kessel/Rielly/JVR/Bernier etc? because otherwise, what kind of risk do you mean? |

Those teams had long playoff droughts as well, you build depth first through drafts then make risky moves when on the cusp. |

Yeah but if we take risks now and lose out on them we will just miss them more. Nonis took a risk in drafting Nylander this year and hopefully it pans out. |

I'm always led back to think of Pauly Homer. Now THAT guy took risks.
Got rid of two core pieces one after another. Got back a few great young pieces to become the new core. That's balls.
Traded away their best goalie for a floundering goalie from another team, because he saddled the team with a 9 year mega contract on a headcase. Risky trade, but Mason is decent....
Except that the guys they traded have 2 cups now, and the goalie has a Vezina.
Taking risks doesn't always work out

Don't forget all of the Revenue sharing cash that the Leafs fans send to Florida every year. That way they can offer 4 tickets, plus hotdogs and soda for $99.00. |

our best 2 way player
and our center than got us into the playoffs going vs all the top lines
yeah id say that hurts a bit...
buyout grabo 5.5
sign bolland giving up 2nd and two 4ths
losing kulemin because the buyout
bolland walks
now isles scoop em both, i hope strome plays with them in an offensive role. |

Yes but ultimately it falls on Nonis. If he is a bust are we going to curse Bergman no it will be Nonis fault. |

I what world is Kulemin a two-way player? He hasn't hit double-digits in goals in 3 straight seasons. You do know two way means offense, right?
Let's be clear, Grabo was a 3rd line centre in 2013' when the Leafs made the playoffs. Every year he was the top centre, they were terrible. Bozak+Kadri were both bigger reasons at centre the Leafs made the playoffs.
So you want Bolland, Grabovski, Kulemin on this team? Do you know how (frank)ed we'd be for years with our cap? |
