Yeah if Bolland left his one chance to play for his hometown team over 800,000$ when were already talking 5 million and term he's a joke and I'm glad we didn't overpay for him...guys worth 3.5 at best, Whats up buyout in two years?

you do realize the GM who drafted him, ensured he got his shot and basically turned him into the player he is today is the GM of the panthers right?

move him, use that salary when we see what the team needs

there will be teams looking to make some moves...maybe u can get a player you really need/want and a salary dump for someone later on.

having 5 mil to spend on a player before xmas could be a nice lil bonus.

or of course deadline...buyers/sell market

$4M dollars - and he just went through an injury that could have ended his career. I won't miss him, but I don't begrudge the fact or reasons he signed elsewhere for that term and that cash.

+ after they retire most of them can get some sort of job....

OR you know...just invest a few million

- big_dion

Math can be fun.

So if the average NHL plays 15 years, and makes $1M/yr after taxes (for easy math) they will bank $15M.

If they lived smart and only spent $5M, they would have $10M in the bank at the end of their career. A low interest bank account will give them a return of 1.25% interest per year. That amounts to $125,000 per year for doing nothing. As this money is interest, it will replenish every year (and the gains tax on it is low).
so at the age of 35 years old, if they're smart with money, they will never have to work again.

Leafs sign Phil Kessel-No one says a thing. Josh Gorges says no to the Leafs: "Haha no one wants to play for the Leafs".

What horrible drama over nothing the media creates.
