The way I see things If the Prds don't shape up and start making a legit push for the Cup Weber will be following the Spezza route and request a trade. Poile has to do something to get a real centerman in Nashville. I really thought Spezza would be a great fit. Lecavalier would do well in Nashville but he isn't a top line center anymore. He'd work on the 2nd line but Nashville is in dire need of top line forwards.

If you don't clear salary you will not be able to anything to address any injury issues or poor performance issues that invariably happens during the season. What if a star player gets suspended for grabbing another players A$$? Hearing the Flyers want teams to absorb some of Pronger's LTIR money as well in a trade. Is that even permissible by the league?

Flyers can put pronger on LTIR on the last day of training camp which gives them 1.8 in cap space. A team may take pronger to hit the cap floor at some point in the next 3 seasons since insurance pays him because of injury. Even if teams had to pay the man he makes 500k in the last 2 seasons of his 3 seasons left.

Did you really just place Weber and Spezza in the same sentence? Don't taunt Shea. He will find you.

C'mon we all know Spezza wanted out because Ottawa wasn't going to win a cup anytime soon. I dare Weber to come find me, if he does I will corrupt his mind and turn him into a Flyer Unless he is scared Giroux will grab his Rear

It really doesn't matter if Weber wants out. He's signed for the remainder of his career. Spezza had all the leverage in his situation because he contract was about to expire, and he could just walk at the end of the season.

Also, Weber doesn't have a no trade clause. If he asks for a trade he could end up in a worse situation. He's been a really good soldier through this, and all the 'behind the scenes' indications are that he's been a great leader in the clubhouse. If he was unhappy in Nashville he wouldn't have had the best year of his career last year. So Philly fans can just stop speculating about Weber now. Seriously, stop.

I wasn't speculating Weber to Philly I am just saying as a guy gets older he wants to win a cup and if Preds aren't going to be in that position when he's like 32 he will want to go somewhere he can. I am not saying he is going to demand a trade like a douche but he would kindly request that his GM find him a suitor that has a chance to win.

1.8m of space from putting Pronger on LTIR gets eaten up by the fact Flyers still need 2 more forwards to fill out their roster, they only have a dozen on the NHL books right now.

Teams aren't going to take on Pronger. In order for his cap hit to help them reach the floor, he can't be on LTIR. Which means he takes up one of the teams 23 roster spots. There are far simpler ways to meet the cap floor, like signing a player over 35 expected to retire. When he retires, you don't have to pay him anything, he isn't taking up a roster spot, and his cap hit still counts. The idea of someone trading for Pronger is a pipe dream.

I get where your coming from. At an end of year interview Weber seemed pretty ticked at not making the playoffs and when Trotz was let go made mention of the need for a coach to add scoring. He usually doesn't go there. Not winning the Norris may add to wanting to get out ( since all the media said he lost because he plays in Nashville) The latest with Spezza not wanting to play in Nashville maybe doesn't bode well with him either? I for one don't think he would ask to be traded. But I don't get why players don't want to play in Nashvile?

He was traded for Cal Clutterbuck and a 3rd because he was developed properly by the Ilse? A top 5 pick for that return shows you that the Islanders did nothing, but mess up his development.

The original post was how the isles ruined another prospect and all I asked for was names of other young guys that got ruined. Not about bad trades or proper development. Nino wasn't ruined and that's my point. Mismanaged? Sure but not ruined.

Actually Flyers need 1. They have 12 forwards on the roster right now and the last one could be a call up

Because we're not contenders right now. I think Josh Cooper did a pretty good job of summing up why older star players might not want to play here at this time. Once this team stars winning again that will change. The Preds have to prove they're a serious contender though.

Now that we have a coach who would rather have skill players than grit and sandpaper, I like our chances a lot more.
