assuming we lived in a world where Montreal and Boston would make a deal, Loui Eriksson would be a target.
- DoubleDown

Good call. That's the type of winger we should target. In the same time there are a lot of talks about a spot available for Sekac or De La Rose or whoever and I can't see it at the moment.

He deserves to suck all the money he can from the Habs for all the poop he's been taking from them and Therrien.

He swallowed his pill and took the bridge deal. I know he can be a wild horse at times but Therrien seems to want to go out of his way to reign him in. The benchings and the team Canada healthy scratch treatment with no backing from the Habs. All that in spite of his Norris trophy and consistent 100% effort night in and night out. If I'm PK, I go for the max.
- habfanforever

Yeah I can just so how that conversation would go...

Terrien (MT): Hey Mike, Michel here.

Babcock (MB): Uhhhh, Michel who?

MT: Michel Terrien

MB: ...

MT: Coach of the Habs...

MB: Oh, uhhh, hi?

MT: So I think you need to play Subban more. He's an all-star and Norris trophy winner. Sure I cut his icetime but only because I'm trying to teach him a lesson. Sure I don't always let him have important minutes at the end of a game but it's for his own good. And I think he's too flashy for his own good. But I'm backing him now.

MB: Uhhhh, so how many cups and gold medals do you have as a coach???

MT: Well I came really close with the Pens once. Hey my name was Mike then too!

the highest cap hit in the game is what, $9.5 million? so what's his market value? because he's not the game's best player. he's not the game's best defenceman. should he have the highest cap hit in the game? i don't think so. i think $8-$9 million is a reasonable figure. i think anything over $9 million is getting into "bleed dry" territory.
- DoubleDown

Cap hit is irrelevant. Salary's with current League profit is where it counts.

If the guys with the highest salaries would have signed 7-8 year deals before the new CBA, their cap hits would be higher.

Why would Subban make less money because he signs after the new CBA?

i find it hard to believe that MB is assuming any rookie can come in and fill a top 6 role. i would be shocked if one more veteran forward isn't added this summer.

he hasn't taken any poop from anyone but they did say 2 years ago that if he took a bridge deal and then played well the money would come.

he won a norris and became their key player...

i guess the money is on its way and he'll deserve every penny he gets.

This...

But one problem is with the NHL constantly changing the salary cap, it's tough to compare the cap hit PK gets today with say what Crosby got a few years ago, or what the next superstar that negotiates in a few years will get...

Good questions. Sharp's name was circulating for a while and CHI needs to shed salary...

So Eller, 1st and a prospect?

Especially if you look at our top offensive players. Therrien is keen on keeping everyone in this "grinder" state. When your top young gun (Galchenyuk) is playing 3rd line minutes on the wing with little or no PP time, it says a lot about how Therrien feels about offensive players. They'll be trading for a 30-40 point, 30+ year old RW à la gionta before the end of the summer.

Claude Giroux, Henrik Lundqvist, Evgeni Malkin... among the 5-6 highest paid guys in the league, all signed under the new CBA.

it is for the habs. they don't exactly have a boatload of prospects and that makes the 1st round pick that much more valuable.

Even a few Hawks fans were proposing Eller for Sharp recently... I guess Eller and a 2nd or mid-prospect would do? Or maybe a simple 1-on-1 swap like Eller for Tlusty.

I was joking.

People complaining about Subban not getting ice time when the team was shorthanded was funny.

there is nothing in your body of work that would indicate that anyone could detect sarcasm from you as you vary wildly between common sense and complete Bert Raymond in most of your posts.
