So 1 good d man makes your whole d core good? You need at least 3 to even sniff playoffs.
- 28Girouxsalem28

The isles have two dmen that are legit in Visnovsky and Hamonic. But playoff teams roll 4 dman who can all play 20 min a night. The isles need to add another PP dman who can play minutes. Dehaan if healthy can be a 2nd pair PP guy.

If they underachievd last year, what makes you think any team wants them in exchange for a player of value like a second pair d-man or better? Every team has third and fourth line forwards and low pair d-men that usually get swapped for change of scenery etc.

He literally said right smack in the middle of his post that he's not suggesting that all or any of the players he listed would bring back what we need.

Not trolling at all. Hammer is the #3 dman on the Hawks, but would be a 1 or 2 on almost every other team. Sharp is a pretty damn good winger.

They wouldn't be had for bits and pieces.

Your top 2 prospects and Nielson is not delusional for Hammer & Sharp.

Josh Bailey and Matt Donovan for Hjlarmsson

Let me guess you say no way......

They'd have to include Seabrook if we threw in Rolston.

Listen to what you are saying. You have 9 players signed to one way contracts all vying for the last two spots. That's 7 dmen signed in the NHL that are gonna jus sit out????
- kindlyrick

Just because they have one way contracts doesn't mean you cant send them down you just to pay the players NHL contract worth.

Isn't it still the case that if you waive a guy playing on a one way contract that they have to go through league waivers, and if someone picks them up then you have to pay half of their cap hit. That was the case under the old CBA, but I'm not sure if that carried over.

Here's where your missing the point;

Sharp is 32yrs old making $5.9M w/3yrs remaining on contract. After his hot 1st half, he decline dramatically in 2nd half so that puts him in the cautious category. Now, I'm not saying he's done, I'm saying for his age & contract doesn't merit a top tier prospect like Strome. Frans alone can almost fetch a Dman like Hjalmarrson so that's where I don't see it as a match.

If you have heard the possible rumors of Sharp + Leddy to OTT for Greening, Smith, Lazar?

Last I checked, Strome, Reinhart, Frans are much better than those 3 by a mile & the only difference would be Hammer for Leddy.

Now I could see Reinhart + Frans + pick for Sharp & Hammer as possible... if you catch my drift...

Thanks. Now I recall them being eliminated, and the fact that the cap penalty used to happen at re-entry not on the way down.

Yeah, but the "pay half their salary if claimed" stuff doesn't exist anymore.

That's insane.

Sharp would demand any teams best prospect, he's an annual 65-75 point player with 3 years left. What exactly has Strome accomplished that Chicago would even go for that.

Also, Hjalmarsson won't be traded, he's a top pairing defensemen whos young and signed at a good cap hit. Neilsen would never fetch Hjalmarsson on his own

If Bailey is moved, Im prediciting he will grossly outproduce any asset we get in return in that trade on his new team.

I think Grabner should be traded b/c even when he plays well, Capuano hates him. while others love to bash Grabner for not scoring on his breakaways, my response is, name another player that gets as many breakaways as him.
If grabner converted on 60% of breakaway that all isles fans want him to he would be a 50-60 goal scorer. Maybe that why we got him on waiver wire. Did anyone ever think of that. That said, he has more trade value than Bailey right now.

- Spartiarti

i don't care about the breakways..they are what they are... my bone of contention that since his rookie season he stopped driving the net with any consistancy. of his 34 of his goals many were of the ugly variety. also for someone with his speed he doesn't use it to back check with any regularity. i love grabs but if he is traded or bailey and the players we get back get us in the playoffs, then who cares

Break it down this way.

Sharp for Martin & Strome

Leddy & mid level prospect for Nielson

Sounds like a good deal for both teams to me

- Dannyboy

stop please, that wouldn't even work on a video game

i would offer bailey and donovan and a mid level prospect for odouya and sharp. if i'm garth i'd say here its..you get 6.5 million off your cap, if not have fun paying toews and kane. play hard ball with these teams up against the cap

Brayden Schenn was considered a top 3 NHL prospect when he was traded along with Wayne Simmonds for Mike Richards.

Prospects are over valued by the team that has their rights. If the Isles wanted Sharp, you could expect one of Reinhart or Strome going the other way.
