I kind of like Lee better than Nelson. He just has the nose for the net and gets in the dirty areas
- kasperrko

Nelson is a better skater and has better hands but lee's
Skill set is conducive to success in this league. I hope all three work out. They all offer something unique

I would take that. I just knew when we drafted him people felt he would do a lot better than that

Which is likely one of the reasons they are successful. Maybe Cappy should take a page out of Sutter's playbook?
- Jethro09

It's not he reason they are successful. I'm not saying sutter isn't a good coach but, that LA team is stacked from top to bottom and in my opinion have the best defensmen in the league. It's easy to match up lines when you have the players to do it. For me it's hard to evaluate Capuano to this point. He's almost a 500 record on lets be real really bad teams. I think after this year will determine how good of coach he is. Bringing in two experience coaches will make a difference as well. I read somewhere Cronin is a no nonsense type coach. Lets

They are different players completely. Nelson reminds me of a Young Keith Primeau
- Dan Petriw

fully realize that, but if you had (as an example only) a young joe thornton and a young jeff skinner, I'd take thornton every time. That's a very very loose comparison of how I see them in styles, not necessarily where their ceiling is or what they'll turn into.

Lee is slower, less skilled but bigger. He's a large Moulson who can go into the corners, where Nelson has the skills to make some unbelievable plays. Nelson is going to be a very very good player.

What offer brings in Kane and Bogosian?

Grabs, Neilsen, Bailey, 2nd round pick and a prospect?

- bjpgallagher

I don't like commenting on trade proposals because they're more than often ludicrous but.....this might be the worst trade proposal in the history of trade proposals.

We're going to bring in 2 first-line players without sacrificing a top prospect OR a 1st round pick? And, for one borderline second liner, 2 third liners, pick and some schlub from Bridgeport? You want to kick the Winnipeg GM in the nuts while you're at it?

Nelson is not Joe Thornton.. Not even close.. Plus I don't want Nelson playing anywhere like the "tin man" out west. Strome has skills that aren't teachable.. Let's see where they are this year.. Like I said id only move him for a young dman under contract

B. Ryan was 25 w/2yrs left on contract and a perennial 30g scorer...???
Plus I did mention Lee being a fit w/Grabs or Bailey (not both)....
Also I think the poster said Frans not Brock???

Edit: As much as I like Bogosian, he hasn't been lights out either...

A good defensemen isn't always how many point he gets and jets stink. I watched a couple of Jets games last year against the Isles..i thought he was one of the most effective players on the ice. He hits, clears the puck and can move the puck as well.

don't think we really need Kane at this point. Bogosian I would try for
- kasperrko

Hard to justify trading for Bogo AND Kane. It would take an absolute haul to get them. More than the garbage people have been proposing here. You're talking minimum two roster players, two top prospects and a pick in the 2-3 round range. That is a lot to give up. If you're going to give that up, you need to be sure that 1) your prospect pool and roster are deep enough to withstand that blow and 2) that those two players you're bringing in are lights out performers who make the team markedly better right away. I don't know if you can answer "yes" to both those questions.

I think it might make some sense for the Isles to call the Hawks about Seabrook's potential availibility. I think he may a guy that can be had, but not cheaply.

Package Grabs,Bailey and a D Man not named Pokka,Reinhart or Pulock for Kane. I believe I read somewhere where Kane and Tavares were good friends. Might work out.

Seabrook wont be moved just yet, the potential players their probably going to move (in no such order) Versteeg, Oduya, Leddy, Rosizval, Sharp - possibly

I didn't say he wasn't good, all I said was he's not lights out as a defender.
Lets not put Bogosian in the category of shut Dmen, bc he's not (right now or if he'll ever be??).

I think you took my very loose comparison too literally and I do disagree. Nelson is more direct to the net and not as good a playmaker, but he reminds me of him a bit when I watch him.

Kane would probably cost Lee/Nelson/Pulock/etc, Bailey/Grabner, 2nd or 1st normally but given the circumstances maybe a little less.

Bogo would probably cost around the same (no circumstances)

EDIT: Just saw Jets want a top 6 forward or top 4 Dman entering prime. Maybe they'll take him for much cheaper? Maybe Lee and Bailey/Grabner?

Kane is a great young player, which there is obviously always a need for, I'm not arguing that. But right now the main issue is getting one or two serviceable defensemen to improve the defensive depth on this team.

I agree. At this point I want Bogo over kane. Bogo is a top 4 defensive Dman, which we need in the worst way.
