im not interested in this type of deal...hurts the forwards AND defensive depth and doesnt address the need...for those who complained about the vanek deal, this is the same thing. - LetsGoIsles
How? This isn't a rental player that will almost make us a contender. This is a player that will make a contender significantly better. Still doesn't address the need of a D man but what kind of package could be put together to land Kane along with Bogosian?
Kane and Bogosian
for
Grabner, Bailey, Neilsen, Donovan, 2nd round pick

So fans would rather see some minor league unemployed retread get hired over a fresh new candidate? Not this fan and I'm not gonna attempt to speak for all the others - Vukota
Some might say yes bc an unemployed retread has the experience, so there's no right or wrong answer... |

You don't have to put Neilsen in the package, keep in mind what B. Ryan got back in return plus he's been a 30g scorer longer than Kane and isn't a head case. The value for Kane will be big but not that big... |

By that rationale, though, you can call any out-of-work NHL coach an unemployed retread and say we should go with Weight or another AHL promotion instead when looking for another head coach.
I'm not raging over Reasoner here, but I can see why folks might want some experience among those developing prospects...it's not like the Isles have traditionally knocked it out of the park in this area. And the coaching staffs throughout the organization aren't exactly loaded with experience and a winning pedigree.

Believe it or not I don't care if Reasoner is coaching the kids at all. My problem is that we never seem to get anyone fresh in here. Everyone is a friend of someone or from Maine or Mass. It is insane. they never think outside the box and this team will be a losing team until that trend ends. It is like they don't want to hurt any of their friends feelings. I mean I talked to Garth once maybe he can hook me up with a coaching job. It seems you don't need much experience |

Also Staple lines of Nelson being on the top line I am not a fan of. Lee should be on the top line. He is bigger stronger and gets those dirty goals |

It really doesn't matter whos on the top line, but I'll say I think Nelson is much better than Lee |

if this were an actual offer, id do it, although i dont see the Jets taking this deal. however, im not as in love with kane as others are, id rather just address a top 4 dman and let the season begin |

so now the islanders will never win until they get someone to coach somewhere throughout the organization who didnt at some point live in the upper right hand corner of america...ok cool. |

Replace Neilsen with Lee??? I'd do it either way. I think it makes us a top 6 team in the East. And unless the Queen can start putting the puck in the net, this deal may even make us the best team in New York again....too far? |

Agree 100%, doesn't answer the D problem but is a big upgrade on "O", I really believe with a healthy Dehaan, Hamonic,Vis,Reinhart and possibly Pulock that were not as bad on D as people think, I know you don't want too many young guys but at least give it a shot |

Plugging in Kane and Bogosian makes the Isles a top 5 team(on paper; would have to see how they play together) in the east.
That being said, Jets still would want one of our top prospects. |

For both Kane & Bogosian
I'm thinking maybe Grabs or Bailey (not both), Lee, Donovan, Mayfield..... |

Pokka, Bailey, and 2nd rounder if they would want a top prospect.
Get to keep Grabs and Neilsen. Still would need to dump a forward somewhere along the line. Maybe for...hey another D man??? |

I don't want to move Lee. I'm okay with our forwards, just would like one top 4 defenseman. |
