Not for nothing Dan but for all the years Jack has been running the ship he has done nothing to show that he is a good coach at all
Also good coaches find ways to win to win regardless of who they have on the team. Problem is there were to many games the Islanders just stopped playing and that is all on the coach who needs to push them and motivate them - kasperrko
You make the playoffs with that defense and goalies last year.. The reason jack is back is because Garth knows that Garth failed this organization last year. I just feel that most fans always make excuses for the players when they share the blame as well. |

How many experienced guys are looking to work in the minors? If any are available then how good are they if they are currently unemployed? |

I think its more of the isles always going the cheap route. With the pool of prospects most might feel that an experienced coaching staff would be ideal to help the development and progression of these kids. The isles continue to recycle the garbage bin bc they don't want to pony up $$$$
Players turning into coaches w/o any experience of coaching is learning on the fly, which isles do not need that right now... |

Yup he needs to bench players or shorten his bench. These are not kids anymore and there needs to be some urgency and discipline. I am starting to believe the country club comment about this team - kasperrko
Two problems:
One- No game plan that even so much as remotely seems to consider defense of any kind, at any time. Literally like the soccer game I watched yesterday...a bunch of guys running all over the place for no reason, and then standing around and looking at each other, trying to figure out what went wrong (again).
Two- What you're saying here- no discipline, no benchings, no one sits in the seats when they spend half the season playing like they have a load in their shorts (Bailey). Seemingly no command of any respect whatsoever- sure, the players love him. I'd love him too, if I could collect $3M a year to suck a$$ and have no consequence for that. I could just stay on the beach in Hawaii, so long as the checks clear. |

I think most of that is Garth being afraid to hire someone who has a higher hockey IQ than he has, where it's blatantly obvious that it is the case. |

Evander Kane wants out and they were shopping Bogosian....
According to EK they had interest in Grabs. Lets send them a package... - bjpgallagher
Package Grabs,Bailey and a D Man not named Pokka,Reinhart or Pulock for Kane. I believe I read somewhere where Kane and Tavares were good friends. Might work out. |

vukota essentially made the point that 1) how many experienced and proven coaches want to be involved in player development for a minor league hockey team and 2) if there are coaches with that resume, how good could they actually be coaching player development for a minor league hockey team? |

So who should they have hired? Like I said how good is this so called experienced coach who is available if he can't even get a job working in the minors? Some of you act like there are all these good coaches just waiting to coach in the minors again |

yeah because JT looks like the type who would let that kind of mentality be the norm - Vukota
Hearing Martin recently talk about how now they know they won't be handed anything after being an 8th seed and first round exit apparently went to their heads leads me to believe Tavares' uncompromising drive to get better and be a champion might not be the prevailing attitude throughout the organization... |

well I don't have names of coaches in my back pocket... I think the fans would rather see someone else than a recently retired Reasoner, was my point. No one said Reasoner will be good or bad. |

while i agree that the accountability isnt there from cappy, i have an extremely hard time believing that players who have trained and played competitive hockey their entire life and have finally made it to the NHL are mailing it in because they have a paycheck. if this were a team of accountants or something boring that no one actually wants to do then id agree but these guys are passionate about hockey and winning. no one is mailing it in. |

Really? It happens quite often in sports...players get a little bit of money or start taking things for granted and need to refocus. I believe Apollo Creed had to take Rocky to his hometown gym to cure it in that instance. |

don't bother. Cappy is the second best coach we ever had. Might get him in the Hall of Fame one day |

and the reason they are doing that is because they are not being coached correctly |

im not interested in this type of deal...hurts the forwards AND defensive depth and doesnt address the need...for those who complained about the vanek deal, this is the same thing. |

So fans would rather see some minor league unemployed retread get hired over a fresh new candidate? Not this fan and I'm not gonna attempt to speak for all the others |
