And a follow up to that tweet:
Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday 22m
I meant unlikely Pokka makes #Isles out of camp. - PeteM
I can't imagine this kid isn't better than half of what we have. Of course, that half of what we have is still here, which is going to get to be more of a problem as this season wears on. I'd expect players to be waived to make room for improvements, but it's hard to expect things that make logical sense with these people. |

What sad is cappy knows exactly who he going to use on defense. Camp doesn't determine anything. If pokka was bast dman in camp he still not playing this year.

A lot of great coaches in this league sucked as players or never even made the league and plenty of great players sucked as coaches - Dan Petriw
it's a valid point but it doesn't mean he's going to be a good coach. He certainly sucked ass as an islander though. |

Not at all, but that is just a ridiculous statement to make, I don't think cappy is a great coach but I don't think he is a moron like some claim. He has some legit talent in his team now, this year will be the test - Dan Petriw
Not for nothing Dan but for all the years Jack has been running the ship he has done nothing to show that he is a good coach at all
Also good coaches find ways to win to win regardless of who they have on the team. Problem is there were to many games the Islanders just stopped playing and that is all on the coach who needs to push them and motivate them |

Like him as a talent, but he's supposedly a handful in the room. Another trade I would do if we could give them middling prospects and crap like Bailey to take him off their hands. |

Most are...it's just cause for discussion, in my book. I especially love the people who still get mad when Eklund is wrong. |

The isles need a coach that employs strategy and structure. My biggest problem with Cappy is that he refuses to, or doesn't know how to match lines. He just runs whoever is next up on the bench out there, regardless of who the opponent puts on the ice. That works for a team like the Kings, but not the isles. Cappy also doesn't employ a strategy or any semblance of a system. The Isles don't appear to play with any urgency in the defensive zone nor do they emphasize puck control.
Cappy also doesn't hold the players accountable enough. He'll be quick to discipline a guy like Donovan when he screws up, but when A-Mac (when he was here) or Bailey were continuously screwing up and turning the puck over and accomplishing nothing, neither guy lost a drop of ice time or were demoted to a lower line. Its about time that all of those guys who don't produce be held accountable, not only a select few. |

Yup he needs to bench players or shorten his bench. These are not kids anymore and there needs to be some urgency and discipline. I am starting to believe the country club comment about this team |

Staple - Among #Isles D prospects, some new heights/weights from today's weigh-ins: Czuczman up to 209 from 204, Mayfield now 6-5/218 (was 6-4/210).. Ville Pokka now 6-0/194 (was 5-11/200), A. Pelech 6-3/220 (was 6-2/215), R. Pulock now 6-2/212 (was 6-1/218), G. Reinhart up to 217 from 202... Pokka shed some baby fat, looked like. Pulock simply looked jacked. Seems quite ready for what's ahead. #Isles - brodydog29
the real question is did staple just tweet out the longest tweet in twitter history?? #160CharactersOrLess |

from the little research i just did, mike babcock played hockey from 1980-1987 and never even got drafted to play in the NHL -- which speaks about his hockey talent-- and is arguable one of the top 5 best coaches in the league...
...talent has exactly no impact on coaching abilities. anyone who is complaining about reasoner is allowing his playing career to cloud their judgement OR simply complaining bc its the islanders and thats what some people do best. |

dans comments were in reference to someone saying that training camp has zero impact on roster decisions and that the roster is already known, which i agree is totally ridiculous....fwiw, no one likes cappy.
as for the kings, they absolutely play matchups
again, i dont like cappy, but to say that training camp is essentially a waste of time is crazy. |
