So, cause I'm not feeling really well and I'm bored, here is one man's attempt at a final Flyers roster. First off, we trade Grossmann to WPG for Mark Stuart, which saves nearly 900k and we trade VL to MTL for Moen, while eating 30% of Vinnie's deal. We also demote Rosehill and trade Rinaldo to anyone that will take him. This will bring us to:

FORWARDS
R.J. Umberger ($4.600m) / Claude Giroux ($8.275m) / Jakub Voracek ($4.250m)
Michael Raffl ($1.100m) / Brayden Schenn ($2.500m) / Wayne Simmonds ($3.975m)
Travis Moen ($1.850m) / Sean Couturier ($1.750m) / Matt Read ($3.625m)
Jason Akeson ($0.575m) /
DEFENSEMEN
Mark Streit ($5.250m) / Andrew MacDonald ($5.000m)
Chris Pronger ($4.941m) / Braydon Coburn ($4.500m)
Luke Schenn ($3.600m) / Mark Stuart ($2.625m)
Kimmo Timonen ($2.000m) / Nick Schultz ($1.250m)
GOALTENDERS
Steve Mason ($4.100m)
Ray Emery ($1.000m)
BUYOUTS
Daniel Briere ($0.000m)
Ilya Bryzgalov ($0.000m)
RETAINED SALARIES (1.96% of upper limit)
Vincent Lecavalier ($1.350m—30.00%)
BONUS OVERAGE
$345,000

CAP SPACE (20-man roster): $538,571

So we then place Pronger onto LTIR, make a few call-ups, and we are left with:

Thinking it was some bad tuna, but not really sure. Either way, it has not been a fun couple of days.

Not exactly a complete translation, but somebody on twitter got the cliffs notes:

Tyler J. Altemose @TJamesAltemose
LRT: (Translated) Morin wants to make the #Flyers out of camp. He's an inch taller and gained 20+ pounds of muscle mass.

Tyler J. Altemose @TJamesAltemose
LRT: (Translated) Morin says he had a taste of it w/ the exhibition games last season and he wants more.

Tyler J. Altemose @TJamesAltemose
LRT: (Translated) He said PHI has been impressed w/ his on- and off-ice attitude. Very physical presence.

Tyler J. Altemose

LRT: (Translated) But he has to work on his decision making when it comes to whom to go after (he can get himself in trouble).

It's not out of the question because we've seen it happen with Luca Sbisa but would it be good for his development long term?

The Flyers are a cap team....they will always spend to the cap # when possible to make their team better....It would have been nice to have more $ on July 1rst, but they didn't. One could say maybe that was a good thing....the last thing the Flyers need is another guy who although might help now hurts their plans a couple of years down the road.....too much doom and gloom around here....the flyers have some really good young talent on their squad and I fully anticipate some of these kids will continue to get better this year and next....I read an article on Philly.com about how the Flyers are falling behind??? I guess if Baby Schenn, Couturier, Read, Simmonds, Raffl and even Vorecek show no grow then sure they might be in trouble....I don't see that happening....I still think there are team needs, but patience needs to be the order of the day. Hextall deserves some time to mold this team and make some changes as he see's fit.
Im stoked for October....a new season of the Walking Dead and the new Flyers season.

My concern is that the "core" offense and "core" defensive peaks seem to be out of phase. Can they find a top notch 1 or 2 defensemen, before Timonen retires or Grossman's knee's finally wear out? Do they have to wait until the young crop of prospects develop, if they can't sign or trade for a #1 defenseman? If they have to wait, will the young offensive core still be at the top of their game? Personally, I think they should have gotten their defense in order before the offensive, since everything I've read said Defensive (and goalies) prospects take longer to develop.

And, is Mason the "guy"... Everything looks good so far.

For instance. Does anyone think hextall is spending a minute of his time regarding the pk subban situation? I don't. If Holmgren was here, I'm sure he'd be keeping close tabs on that situation. His primary mission was to find a replacement for Pronger on this team right now. For hextall, I doubt it's on his task list this summer.

Holding pattern.

- Just5

There is no question in my mind that if Subban becomes available, that Hextall would look into it, and see if there is a fit there. And if he doesn't do that, he would be delinquent in his responsibilities as GM.

How specifically would Holmgren keep close tabs on the situation?

Even if Vinny is with us to start the season does anyone think that if some other teams top two centers go down that Vinny wouldn't be an option. Just because we start the season with him doesn't mean he isn't moved in season. Plus there is plenty of time in camp and presason that if someone goes down Vinny might be an option. Personally I still see Nashville getting him, just think it is a game of chicken right now trying to get Flyers to pony up either taking money or throwing a puick in, but I still feel he is moved.

So do I. I'm actually curious to see if Hextall will blink on this one. It will tell us and the league about him. So far I'm happy with Vinny not being traded for a crap return. We can't keep the cap hit.

Since, Subban rumors have been around for the better part of a year... My guess is that Homer/Hexy know exactly what it would take to get Subban. But, the cost is too high. Sure, they should circle around and find out if the price dropped - I guess it wouldn't have dropped.

They're not gonna have to wait very long before allowing at least one of Morin, Hagg, Gostisbehere or Sanheim is ready. It happens all the time where a young player takes matters into his own hands and forces the club to make a rough decision. Unfortunately I'm hoping one of these young players doesn't have a Tyler Myers, Erik Johnson, Zach Bogosian or Jamie McBain like career. They start very strong and then tail off. I think it's very unfortunate Erik Gustafsson moved on.

PK Subban is one of the rare players you've gotta consider giving up major assets for. First round picks, Sean Couturier, etc.

I think Nashville will blink. they missed out on all there supposed targets in Statsny, Spezza and even legwand didn't come back. Right now they dont really have a lot of depth at center. Vinny would be the firt line center and Fisher can move to 2nd where he is better suited. The match makes too muchsense to not happen. Its just what would come back to the Flyers. I would be perfectly happy with Stalberg or even Matt Cullen who has one year left on his deal. He could still play a role on the third line and 2nd PP

I've only gotten looks at Morin in small doses. So outside of the Chris Pronger comparison, what is he expected to become? Brayden Coburn? Luke Schenn?

Panaccio was right. Anything less than Pronger-like ability will be a failure

Likely a combination of those two. Probably not as good of a skater as Coburn, but pretty close. His physical game is more like Schenn's. His offensive ability is TBD. Wasn't an offensive force in Juniors last year, but did alright for himself in that regard. Flyers seem to think he has untapped, offensive potential. We'll see.

I'm wondering if Buffalo is willing role with Chris Stewart. He only has one year on his deal which makes him worth keeping but plays far from a 4 million dollar player the last few years. Lecavalier bring much more offensive production but both the money and years hurt him.
