The Preds are being punished by the great odds maker in the sky for matching the Weber offer and screwing around with us. They are a 1/2 #ss franchise getting life support money from the big boys in the traditional market.

Let them fail, all those small markets and move the franchises to places where the fans will pay the full price for the tickets, not like the 4 for $44 nonsense these teams do to pad their attendance to get league revenue sharing

It is amazing a team could actually go into the season with Olli Jokinen and Matt Cullen as their top two Centers.

Nashville C Mike Fisher out the next 4-6 months with ruptured achilies. Well that certainly makes it more possible for a Lecavalier trade now...

Looking over Washington's roster, I don't see why they wouldn't move on from Mike Green. Heck, they could get a much cheaper, not as good but younger Mike Green if they signed Mike Del Zetto.

Highly unlikely but I'm still holding out hope for something bigger... like schenn, couts + for weber. I could live with Giroux, Vinny, Laughton down the middle if it meant we finally shut the door on finding a #1 dman. I just think that piece is sooo vital to a SCF team - Doughty, Keith, Chara for example - or even what Pronger did for us back in 2010.

nashville has no reason to hop on vinny now. fisher's got 3 months to start healing before the season starts. he should be back by mid-season.

I can see Nashville signing someone like Ribeiro for a 1 or 2 year deal for less than Vinny. No reason for them to give up assets or take his whole salary.

not sure someone's going to take another shot on him at this point. based on skill, contract, sure...but he was disparaged pretty publicly by his former gm.

When they talked for three days, I was thinking that they might have been discussing a bigger trade than the rumored Lecavalier one, like maybe Weber. But the more I looked into it, the less sense it made. The Flyers would have to include either Couturier and/or B. Schenn plus one of Voracek or Simmonds and one of Streit, Luke Schenn, Grossmann, or Braydon Coburn. Nashville would include another player or two going back like possibly Victor Stlalberg or maybe even Mike Fisher or Gabriel Bourque. But I'm not ok with say for example: Couturier, Simmonds and Coburn for Shea Weber and Victor Stalberg. I think Couturier is going to be a superstar in a few years. He's a player the Flyers have to be patient with because he's the type of player that takes a few seasons to get into his prime and having his best seasons. He's 21. When he's 25, he'll be an All-Star. He reminds me of Anze Kopitar. Power forwards like Wayne Simmonds don't grow on trees either. I don't want him traded, pretty much no matter what. I think the most the Flyers could afford to offer would be Streit, Laughton, Brayden Schenn and two firsts for Weber, Stalberg a 2nd and 3rd. Nashville probably wouldn't go for that. Nashville does have the luxury of Seth Jones who looks fully capable of running a defense and being a number 1 defenseman already. Ryan Ellis and Roman Yosi are among the best young defenders in the game as well. They'd have a very good defense even if they did trade Weber. And I think if he ever does get traded, it'll be this year. Depending on how you look at it, it could happen, but it's a long shot. The Lecavalier trade is very possible now that Mike Fisher is out long term. Nashville was just playing hardball trying to get Philly to pay too much of Vinny's contract. Now that Hextall knows Nashville needs a center even more than they did when they originally talked last week; the Flyers could have the upper hand at the moment and reach a better agreement on the retained salary. But it is fun to speculate about Weber lol. Nashville should trade him. They can afford it thanks to their impressive young defense and it would make their team better if they got full value for him, and the Flyers do have the pieces to make it happen.
