Haven't you heard we don't have the cap room?

- FlyersGrace

Can someone explain the cap and how much cap space the Flyers have?

I agree, but only the first part.

Otherwise, I'd go insane and/or live my life in full on rage mode all hours of the day

Sorry, I'll try to limit my informative posts to just those I can't help posting because they absolutely need to be posted.

I've already said too much.

But he won the Norris because of his offensive abilities. I never get why everyone is so high on this guy. He constantly get's out of position, he's always going deep in on the rush and can't get back leaving a forward to play defense most of the time, he's a showboat, and he's a cocky jerk. IMO, his offense does not make up for his lack of actual defense.

I know I'm at odds with not only Mtl fans, but Philly fans who would love to have him. Mtl fans try to use the claims "you don't watch him all season long"... well.. I watch a good portion.. I don't just watch Flyers games, I watch many other games around the league, including Mtl. Personally, I never want to see him in orange and black... ever. Call me crazy, call me "uninformed"... it's just my opinion from watching him. I think Randy feakin Jones had better positioning than Subban, and that's saying something.

The Norris is no longer the best DEFENSEman... it's the guy on D who scores the most points throughout the year. I'd say the same thing about a guy like Karlsson. Are they talented? Heck yeah... and Subban is one of the best skaters in the league, IMO. But I still wouldn't take him as an "elite" dman, especially at the numbers they're talking (8+/year)... Give me Weber, Suter, Keith, Doughty, Pietrangelo, McDonagh, Seabrook, Kronwall, etc. all before Subban. Not only do they play team hockey, but they actually play good positional defense.

Again.. JMO... I know I'll get ripped for it, but it is what it is...

Well I agree with a few things. The Norris does tend to go to player with offensive ability. And he is cocky, and sometimes arrogant.
But I disagree that he's constantly out of position. He's a solid defender, who can also handle the physical play. When that's combined with his elite ability to handle the puck and control the game, as well as produce points and play the point on the PP. It all combines to make him an elite puck moving defenseman in the League. I'd take a lot of those players over Subban also, if they were available.

Man the thread died.

As a player do you think that they watch which teams consistently got to arbitration? Or at least the agents do?
That would be a warning sign for me as an UFA.

maybe only a warning sign to players if that teams better players continue to go to arbitration.
other than that, it seems like 15-20 teams end up in arbitration every year.

You mean as an rfa? And yes I think players pay attention to which teams are the tougher negotiators

Mmmm.... it would have to depend on what kind of UFA you were.

A guy like Niskanen probably doesn't care... he might even prefer if the GM is stingy w/ RFA's since it means that might offset his own outsized cap hit, and increase the team's chances of loading up and winning.

If I'm a guy like Santorelli, I might care a little bit more, since I'll be needing to re-up within the next 12-mos and I might not want to lock horns with a skinflint and end up having to pack my bags again.

Did the Flyers get Steve Ott yet?
- Streit2ThePoint

Yup, they signed him for 4 years at $3 million and traded Vinny with $1.5 million retained + our 2015 1st for Nashville's 2015 2nd. So the cap situation is the same.

And this is how rumors get started.
