still dont disagree...but he's a question mark just the same. Ive read too many articles and or opinions which offered that the guy is a hard worker, great attitude etc etc...but every time I try to get more info, or at least find out where/how such opinion was formed, I come up empty handed. Feel like many are BS'ing they're opinions on the guy and going off an interview or two.

Either way, glass half full is never a bad thing

So who are the real front runners for McDavid?

Buffalo seems the most likely to me.
but who is going to compete with them? Vancouver?

- ILoveLamp

Carolina, Winnipeg, Ottawa. Vancouver is pretty bad but I think they will get 20th-16th. Florida did sign a lot of players but IMO they barely got any better.

Actually more on the fact that he is giving up $620,000 to come play here. How many players would do that? I can't think of one other example.
- D.Lemieux

Leafs gave him a 200k signing bonus, the guy is making 1.1M NHL salary...

so, he's really making around 700k this year....about the same money as Frattin.

Sigh.

I mentioned this a couple of pages ago.

He's not been in the league long enough.

If ELC signed before 20, they must have played 4 years. If ELC signed after 20, they must have played 2 years.

leave the sigh out of it, sassy.

Never heard that rule before.

Dumb rule.

But is it tampering to talk to him? Even if you don't offer sheet him, just tell him to hold out for a trade

Question for the Only watch the game people

mc79hockey @mc79hockey
If I was a Leafs fan looking to make a bit of a name with analytics, I’d be getting into breaking down Jay McClement a 4v5 in 12-13 v. 13-14

mc79hockey @mc79hockey
There’s a very straightforward thing that you could do with GameCentre access that would shed a lot of light on things.

mc79hockey @mc79hockey
The shot attempts at 4v5 with McClement on the ice went from being elite to abysmal.

what happened to Jay Mcl?
did he just turn into a crappy player or was it more coaching changes or tweaks that led to this?

it could be simply he's getting older and losing a step

wouldnt be the first guy in his early 30s to have that happen

20 mins a night killed him. 10-14 mins is how much he should be playing.

Carlyle's over usage of Jay to me was the biggest thing. McClement is a useful player palying around 10 minutes a night, but there were times Carlyle had him out there for 17-20 minutes, McClement is not a player to be playing those minutes.

Right, I won't disagree with his desire to play in the NHL...but it's the notion that he's a steal or what have you. The guy might not even crack the lineup full time for all we know. That's all I'm saying...he wasnt a hot shot in the K...not sure what type of success he'll have in the N.
- Colin Dambrauskas

fully agree
us leafs fans should know by now not to get our hopes too high over a guy who probably won't amount to much more than a fringe 3rd liner

IMO just got played too much after Bolland went down.

Last season he was behind Bozak, Kadri, and Grabo, this year there was a stretch where he was only behind Kadri.

Jack Flinn, G – Owen Sound Attack (Toronto)

Again, we have opposites. Flinn comes in at 6-foot-7 with lots of potential but poor numbers. He was the backup in Owen Sound this year, but split the playoff workload with starter Brandon Hope. The Leafs are willing to test out Flinn’s huge frame at their camp this week.

Bobo Carpenter, LW – Austin Prep (Toronto)

The son of ex-NHLer Bobby Carpenter, ‘Bobo’ is short for Robert and he’s the third generation of that name. After his high school season ended, Carpenter put up nine points in nine games for Sioux City in the United States League and despite his obvious offensive talent, he didn’t hear his name called at the draft in Philly. Skating might be a factor, but the Maple Leafs are giving him a whirl.

this year has been a tough one for the leafs.

players snubbing them, UFAs leaving, no trade clauses used to avoid the leafs sweater.

i wonder what it is? i know carlyle isnt exactly known as a player friendly coach.. maybe it has to do with that?
