No they can't.
Any picks they give up will be high ones for each round.
They would be foolish to offer sheet anyone.

At least they better not

so they can but you just dont think they will

thats different... i agree however.

So who are the real front runners for McDavid?

Buffalo seems the most likely to me.
but who is going to compete with them? Vancouver?

I should have only bolded the part about him being a steal....that's what I was responding to.

Well maybe you need to work on your bolding skills mister.

I'm hoping they are smart enough to that they are in no position to offer sheet anyone. I'm hoping they realize that. Hence the can't, I'm taking a big leap if faith on them

Right, I won't disagree with his desire to play in the NHL...but it's the notion that he's a steal or what have you. The guy might not even crack the lineup full time for all we know. That's all I'm saying...he wasnt a hot shot in the K...not sure what type of success he'll have in the N.
- Colin Dambrauskas

i wouldnt say hot shot.. but he still was 0.7PPG over his KHL career.

and if you only look at the last couple seasons he jumps up 0.877PPG

when they call this guy a late bloomer is actually fits.

Agree with all that still like this low risk signing though. You never know.. He could put up 30 or so pts. His Attitude on the team certainly can't hurt. Turns out to be crap in this league no harm done.

You are basing his whole attitude in one interview where he looked like an idiot.

But I'm hoping he's a decent signing

I don't think they can Dozz, not having your own draft pick means you can't offer sheet a player. Leafs don't have their 2nd for next year hence why they cant. The only thing I'm not sure of is if the compensation of picks doesnt include the 2nd if they're still able to offer sheet a player.

It would mean a bad year, but moving forward, it may be the best thing to happen... So, it will not happen..

Actually more on the fact that he is giving up $620,000 to come play here. How many players would do that? I can't think of one other example.

We could finish last, but you know that the "draft lottery" would somehow drop us down to pick lower

remember, Leafs traded Stralman to get their 2nd back, so they could threaten Boston with an offersheet for Kessel.

Maybe we can trade Franson for our 2nd and offer sheet Smith?

still dont disagree...but he's a question mark just the same. Ive read too many articles and or opinions which offered that the guy is a hard worker, great attitude etc etc...but every time I try to get more info, or at least find out where/how such opinion was formed, I come up empty handed. Feel like many are BS'ing they're opinions on the guy and going off an interview or two.

Either way, glass half full is never a bad thing

No problem. They were talking about not being able to offer sheet Ryan Johansen.
