do they televise any of it?
- Jay Uller

Not usually, but they will have clips and highlights on the Leafs website at some point.

Leaf prospect camp underway this week at MCC. William Nylander amongst the 29 prospects on hand.

2 Firsts....... and a lot of hope with the rest.
I would be interested in looking at other teams invites, I see a large gap between 2nds - 4ths..... but I am no GM, that is for sure, it does have an eerie resemblance to our current Leafs makeup.

Maybe I am stretching, but that is what first popped out at me in the list of invites...

Lupul career year with him...
- aminnes

Why Randy never threw them together last year ill never know, even JVR's career year doesn't compare: 67 in 66 for Lupul 61 in 80 for JVR. that alone makes me apprehensive before labeling JVR a legit first liner, lots of goals in the paint and slumped when the needed him

That Nik Kulemin, "Two-Way" player. 3 straight years without double digits in goals...
- RogerRoeper

with no PP time and used in what was primarily a shut down role

most of his starts were in his own zone as well.

gotta paint the full picture here.

No one really talks about patty Kane's defensive abilities
- JVR_42_PK81

Hockey is truly the only sport where a star player is expected to be excellent at all aspects of the game. Baseball players can make a career out of hitting OR fielding if they are really strong at one. Strikers in soccer don't seem to have any impact on the defensive side of the ball, but I don't watch soccer much so I may be mistaken. Even basketball players don't lose much love for getting beat in their end so long as they put up good offensive numbers.

Which is why I don't understand why Phaneuf recieves such slander from everyone. He has the highest QoC in the league, and his defensive zone starts are way high.

That's why I'm hoping the Leafs can get a pairing to play other teams top lines and have Phaneuf and Gardiner together playing more freely. Like what Chicago does with Keith.

I would like to see Dion move to pp2 and use his shot as the focal point instead of him and Phil playing pitch and catch on the half wall, rarely results in him getting shots off with traffic.

Yeah, Kulimen was never going to repeat his 30 goal season, but he never really got the chance to be in an offensive role again. This year he played alot with McClement/Clarkson

I would not be surprised to see McA leave Ottawa and end up in NY sometime soon, he might as well get paid too.

I wanna see Gardiner move to PP1, Phaneuf isnt a guy that can enter a zone very effectively. Keep Phaneuf with Gardiner on PP1. Gives us more mobility on the blue line.

I read his interview on the isles site and he said "I like to shoot" that kind of baffled me, for two years I have wanted him to shoot. Such a heavy shot that he rarely used.

Basketball is similar - need to play some D to be successful.

never say never, if given PP time and a top 6 role he could produce again

being used as a checker doesnt exactly give a guy a chance to shoot

Yeah, he may take out more teammates this year!
On PP1 they are trying to get the defense to move and shoot through holes, it would just be someone else playing catch..... but having a right hander may help with that, may not....

I'm sure he'll be given that in NYI playing with Grabo. I can see him get 15-20.

It's so stupid if you ask me. And when teams have a two way player there automatacly better than a player with just really good offensively or defensively skills.

Not entirely true, During his black hole 7 goal season, he did get many chances. When you don't score, of course you'll be taken off the top 2 lines.

Regardless, calling him a "Two-Way" forward constantly is silly.

100+ drop in shots per year from 2011-2013, 2011 was his best year by far, quite the drop after that.... Give him the min and he historically will net you about 11% of shots.
I think 2012 and 2013 shows what can happen what a player doubts himself I blame management.

Kulemin was given 100 chances. He failed every time.

Sheesh, people. Just look at the injury list for the past 3 years. For eff's sakes, Lupul was injured every single day, and Kulemin couldn't step up and seize a higher spot.

I think 20 goals would be considered an extremely successful season for Kulemin, he isn't a natural scorer, always leaves the zone early due to a d-first mentality which leaves him in bad scoring areas when he gets the puck. If grabbo and his other linemate can control the puck while he looks for open ice and low enough to drive for reboundshe may be successful. If they think grabbo and kule will drive their lines offense they will be in for disappointment, there were a lot of garbage goals in Kules 30 goal year, he benefitted greatly from mac and grabbos chemistry and macs playmaking.

Predators sign Anton Volchenkov to a one year deal, at 1M

Kind of wish we were in on that; cheap, stable presence on the backend.
