Franson is everyone's least favorite everything.
I'm kind of afraid to lose him cause I like everyone else and would hate to have to pick a new scapegoat. - Bigzby
Franson will go to a new team score 40+ points play decently defensively then every leaf fan will complain. What else is new? |

With the loss of statsny I'd say yes. - Bigzby
Colorado has O'Rielly mackinonn and who else for center? |

takes me back to the good ol' Ryder/Halak/2nd package that was supposed to bring a bounty to Montreal. always love the "let's flip these players we don't want for a really good player" thought process. - DoubleDown
oh i know.. hilarious
on my team he is garbage but i am gonna trade him for the world! |

If we do get O'Rielly you would have to think kadri is gone right? - JVR_42_PK81
If (cuz it ain't happening) RoR came to T.O. I would think Sakic demands JVR +.
He's got Duchene and MacKinnon as top6 centres for the next decade. |

Kadri? - DoubleDown
When they have top 10 picks they've normally went with high skill guys (except Schenn). |

I wouldn't trade JVR for O'Reilly. - BetterCallSaul
I would, but I don't think it's worth debating 'cuz the Avs will lock RoR up at some point this summer. He had a great year on Duchene's wing and has the versatility to play centre. |

think about that for a second. you wouldn't trade a 60-point winger for a 2-way centreman who puts up identical offensive numbers? O'Reilly is the better defensive player and looks to be equal to JVR offensively. and he plays a position that comes with much greater responsibility. i know you guys like JVR and he's a real good player, but come on. |

Me either. JVRs contract is too good to trade away. |

as do most guys. it's not always smart to go with high end skill later in the first round. usually those guys have major, major flaws in their game. |

Agreed. The only thing to factor in is JVR's contract. But I would trade JVR for O'Reilly. But it's hard to split up JVR and Kessel too. |

their cap hits need to vary by $3 million or more to make that a factor. a 2-way centre like that is so much more valuable than a winger. |

High-risk/high-reward. If you feel you can minimize or fix the flaws in their game, go for them. That's why they're not in the top 10. Ho-Sang has top 10 talent but major flaws which is why he went 30. But if you can develope these players properly, you can get rewarded big time.
I just think most people were surprised with the Nylander pick cuz everyone thought they would go for a big physical winger like Ritchie. |
