That's why you trade him now. Also why they tried to trade him for Gorges.
I think he gets moved. He's replaceable, and has priced himself above what he can offer this team given the young guys they have both with Leafs and in system.

Hell Robidas can replace him this year, and Percy will next year. Bigger role for Rielly and Gardiner, we won't miss his offence at all

- Big_Lightnin

He's replaceable, but still holds value. Don't trade him for nothing, try getting the most out of him.

Well that's not for cap Space , that's for a better player.

Simply can't trade Lupul if they don't bring in an established 25G scorer to replace him.

Problem is there's no one on the 1st PP for him to replace. Obvs not Kessel or JVR, and we need a center so insert Bozak.

Put him on the 2nd unit with Kadri/Lupul. Put him in front while Kadri/Lupul work the half boards.

- peddy-93

Fine.. Put Dion on the second pairing, and he can bounce them in off him. Lord knows he can't hit the net.

I would like to see his value increase but hey he probly gets moved... Obviously he can't stay past that because of the young guys coming up but...

Lupul trade needs a Lupul replacement for sure. Not sure how many suckers are out there though. Leafs have some D prospects who may help out, but they don't have a top 6 forward prospect yet.

I didn't really see it that way. For me he looked like he didn't know where to be. He's not a bad skater and he was throwing his body around and playing with energy most nights. He looked like a guy with zero chemistry. "If" Bolland hadn't gotten hurt early (and then Bozak) it would have been interesting to see if he could have developed some chemistry with him. Chip the puck in and chase and forecheck. Kadri, Lupul, Bozak, Kessel, JVR ....more often then not they skate the puck into the zone and stop up looking to make a pass.

I'm not defending Clarkson - he was poop last year.

- The Law

Early on, he wagon just about every puck battle. Went into corner and came out with it every time...then gave it away.

But he was winning the battles, which is something leafs are universally bad at. Converting that battle into a scoring chance is what needs to happen

The winning the battler part is why a guy stays in the NHL, the giving it away part is why he is a bottom 6 guy...

Should have traded him last summer when his value was high and cap was tight. Needed him though.

Is year they don't need him as badly, but still has value. Lot of teams need a right for the PP still.

Clarksons saviour is having people like him, around him. That is Komorov.

If we can get Devon Setoguchi + trade franson for a left handed D... Only problem with these scenarios is we have too many bottom 6 now.

JVR Bozak Kessel
Lupul Kadri Seto
Komorov KHL Clarkson
Frattin Holland Santo
Bodie

LD- Phanuef
Gards -Robidas
Rielly - Polak

Santo can move up and down the roster where needed. For all we know we'll put komorov on the 4th still for energy. I also think if we don't grab seto we DON'T have enough top 6 offense. We have enough bottom 6 offense now.

According to ek, the leafs have an eastern and western trading partner for Dion, but he doesn't really like either team
